Editorial Reviews

From the Author

"Am I fulfilling the ministry of the interior? There is no snare or any danger of infatuation or pride in intercession, it is a hidden ministry that brings forth fruit whereby the Father is glorified . . .The disciple who abides in Jesus is the will of God, and his apparently free choices are God's fore-ordained decrees. Mysterious? Logically contradictory and absurd? Yes, but a glorious truth to a saint."

--Oswald Chambers

"I fear the prayers of John Knox more than all the assembled armies of Europe."

-Mary Queen of Scots

"The old cross is a symbol of death. It stands for the abrupt, violent end of a human being. The man in Roman times who took up his cross and started down the road had already said good-by to his friends. He was not coming back. He was going out to have it ended. The cross made no compromise, modified nothing, spared nothing; it slew all of the man, completely and for good. It did not try to keep on good terms with its victim. It struck cruel and hard, and when it had finished its work, the man was no more."

-A.W. Tozer

Well, I have not read Tim Shays book yet but I spent about 10 hrs with him Sept 12, 2009. I am ordering the book now and will give the book review soon. I picked Tim up just outside of Montpelier, ID. He was thumbing a ride back to Jackson Hole. I was on the same route, supporting my 15 yr old son in a 206 mile bicycle race from Logan UT to Jackson Hole, Wy. Tim was immediately intrigued by this bike race and he rode the remaining 130 miles with me in my van as we stopped along the way to encourage my son and give him liquids and food. Tim was helpful, concerned and is a very intelligent man and I felt comfortable in his presence, it was a joy to spend the time with him. I queried him a bit about his lifestyle and travels and he responded in a very matter of fact way that showed he is confident about his choices and very much at peace. I could tell he is a faith based individual and knows God will take care of him. I cant wait to read the book and wish we could have spent more time together.

Me and a friend picked up Tim outside Townsend, MT on the way to Bozeman, MT. We gave him a ride to Three Forks. He was a kind, gentle man, with a belief in God that will never be shaken. As an agnostic, I was moved the way this man blindly follows the Lords words throughout the country.

I first heard of Tim Shey through his web site, and then ordered his book from Amazon. (I have yet to ever meet him.) I was curious about what life on the road must be like for a hitchhiker following God. His path that he details in this book, blew all my previous misconceptions about hitchhikers clear out of the water! He receives guidance from the Holy Spirit, through the spiritual gift of knowledge, in what I see as a unique twist to the usual. Some have claimed to hear the voice of God speaking to them and directing them into His Ways, but in Tim's experience, He feels the anointing of the Lord upon him, giving him great peace and joy, thereby letting him know, that he is indeed upon the right path. And what a path it is! Tim shares how the Holy Spirit leads him into intersecting paths of those people that God wants him to meet. Sometimes it's just a simple conversation with another believer, that leads them into a stronger faith in Christ, and other times it is to actually, physically, lend a helping hand to those who (at that moment,) are in desperate need. It shows how the Lord can be trusted to work out even the smallest details in ones life. It also shows how one can live for Christ without all the encumbrances that come with having and getting material stuff. My only disappointment with the book was it's lack of a good solid ending. (I am a 'happily-ever-after' and an 'all-loose-ends-tied-up' kind of reader.) However, I also realize that it simply isn't possible for him to have one yet, as he is still out there, on the road, doing the Will of God. So, in conclusion, if you've ever wondered what it must be like, for a man of God to live the life of a hitchhiker, then this is the book for you. It will open your eyes to a world that few of us have ever experienced...
