Ron Radice was the team lead with Michael Fagan as the manager back in the 1970's when software inspections were first studied and published. He is also a senior lead assessor for the SEI for CMMI level 5 assessments in Bangalore, India. He has collected the best practices for the last 30 years and has presented them in a very clear, concise discourse. He has a whole chapter on where inspections are likely to go in the near future. Some companies are now routinely achieving 100% or near 100% defect discovery in their software inspections. The ROI for highly effective inspections is between 4 and 16, see my Crosstalk articles:
