Pure Jason Boland and the Stragglers without studio dubbing. Great lyrics, fantastic instrumentals, Boland's vocals- does it get any better? For anyone that feels like country music has lost its soul- this album will change your mind.

This could possibly be the best album I've purchased in the last five years (or more!). If you love alt. country, Texas country, Red Dirt or whatever label you want to put on it, you need to own this record.

Jason Boland & The Stragglers"High In The Rockies: A Live Album" (Thirty Tigers, 2010) ------------------------------------------------- I'm a big fan of red-dirt road warrior Jason Boland, who has emerged as one of the finest hard-country singers of his generation. This is a great live album that shows why Boland's so good -- a lively, good-humored set that's met with wild enthusiasm by the fans. The songs are mostly drawn from his earlier albums, gems like "Bourbon Legend," "Comal County Blue" and "No One Left to Blame," and Boland rips into them with great enthusiasm and confidence. The sound quality is great, too -- this almost sounds like it was recorded in a studio, though the added spark of the crowd's wild response adds a nice extra layer to some already-great music. If you like real live, honest, old-school country twang, then you'll definitely want to check this one out. Boland's the real deal. (DJ Joe Sixpack, Slipcue Guide To Country Music) |
