5.0 out of 5 stars this is awsome
I've been following the notes of the book for weeks. I'm the master at "Breakin Free." I havent stopped exept for bed, for food, and doing favors for my siblings. Once, I played until midnight and could'nt wait for the mourning to play more. If you're like 8 and above, get the regular version, because I went to my friends house and I brought up the easy version, it...

This review is from: High School Musical: Vocal Selections (Piano / Vocal / Guitar) (Sheet music)
The problem with this piano/vocal book is not in the music itself. The translation from orchestration to piano accompanyment is solid, but several selections are not well suited for the piano. Songs such as "Get'cha Head in the Game," "We're All in This Together," and to a lesser extent "Bop to the Top" were never meant to be played on the piano because they are rhythmically driven. The songs that do translate to the piano well are "Start of Something New," "What I've Been Looking For," "When There Was Me and You," and "Breaking Free." The other two songs are just okay in my estimation.

If you really want to learn to play the 4 songs or so mentioned, then get the book. If you're looking for a full-scale onslaught of High School Musical accompanyment, you're probably just not going to find it in a piano/vocal book due to the aforementioned rhythm-driven songs.

I've been following the notes of the book for weeks. I'm the master at "Breakin Free." I havent stopped exept for bed, for food, and doing favors for my siblings. Once, I played until midnight and could'nt wait for the mourning to play more. If you're like 8 and above, get the regular version, because I went to my friends house and I brought up the easy version, it turned out he had it and he hates the easy version because its way too easy. I saw it, and it looked like a book for 5 year olds. I showed him my regular version, he played it, and he loved it. He said it was much more fun than the baby book.

Would you rather have a baby book meant for little little kids, or would you rather have a normal and slightly hard book for a nice, fun challenge and see yourself get better and better every day? THE CHOICE IS YOURS!

2.0 out of 5 stars high school musical vocal/piano/guitar, January 15, 2008
This review is from: High School Musical: Vocal Selections (Piano / Vocal / Guitar) (Sheet music)
My daughter was very excited about getting this book. She loves High School Musical. When we received it in the mail she sat down to play it and was very disappointed, she is a level 4 piano player and found this music very difficult to play. We thought the easy version would be to easy, so went with this one. We should have stuck with the easier version. Unless you are a really good piano player, I would not recommend this book.

This is awsome!!!! I play the piano all the time now. Stick to the status quo is the most fun to play. Here's a ranking list of the four main people in this movie ranked on their singing ability.

4: Lucas Grabeel - he's good but no wow factor

3: Ashley Tisdale - She's pretty good

2: Zac Efron - great

1: Vanessa Anne Hudgens - amazing

5.0 out of 5 stars an excellent material for voice teaching or even just for jam sessions, June 11, 2007

the day i got this book,i brought it to the studio with me right away.for a non-excellent note-reader, this book is really convenient. if youre not reading the piano part, you can use the chords for the guitar and apply it to the piano to provide a piano accompaniment for your students. What i love about this book is that, the piano part doesnt sound like too elementary. The arrangement of scores sound almost the same as the soundtrack. i have no regrets buying this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good representation of the music, September 25, 2007
This review is from: High School Musical: Vocal Selections (Piano / Vocal / Guitar) (Sheet music)
I purchased this book since our community theater was scheduled to do the stage version, and our scripts were not coming in for a couple of months. While it wasn't much help for many of the songs (since the stage version completely diverts from the movie in many ways) it did help for Bop to the Top and We're All in this Together.

It is definitely a fun buy for the High School Musical fan in your life.

4.0 out of 5 stars pretty good, September 13, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: High School Musical: Vocal Selections (Piano / Vocal / Guitar) (Sheet music)
These pieces are a lot of fun to play though not all of them transfer well to piano, like We're all in This Together, or Getcha Head in the Game, but this is to be expected. However, when played against the original recordings it is evident that this music has been somewhat watered down. There are a few missing chords and such. The melody line is also written right into the accompaniment part, so if you are looking to play and sing along, you will have to use your judgment to pull out the melody notes so you can sing solo. Even with these drawbacks I thoroughly enjoy playing from this book and would recommend it to any HSM fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's great! My son loves to play the music., August 14, 2007
This review is from: High School Musical: Vocal Selections (Piano / Vocal / Guitar) (Sheet music)
I'm not a musician. I'm just a listener, but everyone else in my family sings and plays the piano. I thought all my kids would enjoy this book, but my oldest son, who is almost 16 years old, has been the only one to really use the book. I enjoy listening because the composition is much like the recordings. I think that's why my son likes it too.
