5.0 out of 5 stars Lose 20 years in 30 days? You've got me standing at attention
And this book did not fail to maintain my attention throughout.

I am way past my high school reunion days but, hey, I'm a baby boomer and I want to look as close to my youth as is humanly possible. Diet books tend to make my eyes glaze. But, Dr. Colbet is funny! This book made me laugh, while coercing me to assess my current attitude toward what I was...

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing new, not helpful, save your money!
I saw this book just as I was getting ready to go to my 20th high school reunion, and I was really hoping I could do something simple and effective (instead of getting Botox). Instead, I was disappointed. The authors don't say anything new; instead of giving you specific advice, they just basically tell you to eat healthy--it's mostly common sense stuff. Boring to read...

And this book did not fail to maintain my attention throughout.

I am way past my high school reunion days but, hey, I'm a baby boomer and I want to look as close to my youth as is humanly possible. Diet books tend to make my eyes glaze. But, Dr. Colbet is funny! This book made me laugh, while coercing me to assess my current attitude toward what I was putting in my mouth. And it wasn't pretty.

Dr. Colbert's reco for eating makes just plain common sense: healthier eating -- and a healthier attitude -- is slowly starting to become a way of life. I've begun to evaluate what I'm putting in my mouth throughout the day. No, I'm not hungry. No, I'm not deprived.

Having just bought the book the day after Christmas, I'm only on my third week. But I swear: I feel better, I look better. Give it a try!

Even if you've read the diet books (Atkins / South Beach / Skinny Bitch), the medical books (Weill / Gary Taubes) and the health and wellness books (Weill / Micheals) you will appreciate and learn from this clearly written, direct approach to healthful eating.

Colbert illustrates his opinions and enables the reader to understand the weight of each food choice you make. By making simple choices for more healthful options -- you will in fact lose weight and enhance the vitality of your skin and step. Without sacrificing the joy of eating, entertaining, or fine dining - you can maintain your commitment to healthful eating with the excellent advice and information in High School Reunion Diet.

This book is very encouraging, with amazing, realistic, and easy-to-follow advice. What is good to know is that the writer is a leading dermatologist and doctor, so that the guidance and instructions are at all times sound, reliable, based on science.
I've thrown out all my cookie jars and chocolate bars, and look forward to an exciting "Class of 1980" reunion.

5.0 out of 5 stars "a diet for life", February 23, 2010
This review is from: The High School Reunion Diet: Lose 20 Years in 30 Days (Hardcover)
After years of reading nutritional advice, newest diets, and many other weight obsessive literature, it was so refreshing to read Dr.Colbert's book.
He takes you through sound, understandable and effective guidelines to a better life. Not only is it about shedding pounds, but making yourself healthy. He reminds us that taking care of yourself is rewarding inside and out.
If there's only one "diet" book you were going to read, make it this One! It's comprehensive, yet entertaining in it's common sense approach. The best part is that you actually retain the information and can apply it ...for life.

5.0 out of 5 stars 4 stars for the high school reunion diet by Dr. David Colbert, January 21, 2010

This book really resonated for me as it was both accessible and appealing. Dr. Colbert's conversational tone made it entertaining while being informative. His philosophy on nutrition mirrors my own, and therefore I found the book to be extremely validating, as well as educational. I think that he is a genius and I consider the book to be more of a bible than a diet book. Rumor has it that he will be launching an eponymous skincare line this spring.....sign me up!

5.0 out of 5 stars More Than a Diet Doctor, January 29, 2010
This review is from: The High School Reunion Diet: Lose 20 Years in 30 Days (Hardcover)
I think of and thank Dr. Colbert daily. The only reason I have read the High School Reunion Diet Book is because he literally saved my life about 5 years ago.
He was the only dermatologist to spot and recommend that my favorite "beauty mark" be biopsied. I resisted for 2 years, and saw others who said
it "looked fine" and took pictures of it. I went back to Dr. Colbert's office and the biopsy turned up Melanoma. He performed my surgery and totally saved
my life.

So when Dr. Colbert recommends something, I now listen. I read the High School Reunion Diet, out of curiosity and as I said, when Colbert speaks, I pay attention and act on his advice.
The book is great. As an ex-dancer I have always struggled with my weight and look for common sense, no nonsense approaches to maintaining a healthy and slim physique.
The book is just like he is: direct, clear, and although serious, well spoken with a great sense of humor and positive outlook.

Dr. Colbert is an astute judge of people and behavior and his plan is one that not only works, but that makes sense and is pretty simple to follow. He's a great motivator too.
He saved my life, now he just might save my waistline.
Bravo!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Diet Book, December 19, 2010

This review is from: The High School Reunion Diet: Lose 20 Years in 30 Days (Hardcover)
Great book. It really, really works. It is based on a single ingredient food system that anyone can do. The meals are delicious and you are not left hungry and even if you are, you are allowed to eat more of the same and snacks are included; good snacks not some plastic food. This doctor has many famous people as his clients and I can understand why. Novel that a diet book was written by a dermatologist but you do look better and you definitely lose weight if you stick with it. I had a back problem so I was unable to exercise and the weight still came off. Although I prefer to buy my books on Amazon, when I heard about this I went to the local book store to get a copy to start right away and it was not available and it was not available at 3 book stores so just save yourself some time and order from Amazon.

Yes, we've heard it before, but Dr. Colbert makes the case more convincingly than ever: processed sugar is the enemy -- of our health and our beauty. I've been resisting this fact, because I loved my commercially baked goods.. But Colbert offers delicious alternatives! I've been giving my friends this book. I wish everyone would read and follow it. Very easy to read, non-judgmental and eye-opening.

5.0 out of 5 stars The High School reunion Diet, January 28, 2010
This review is from: The High School Reunion Diet: Lose 20 Years in 30 Days (Hardcover)
I've been a Chef/Instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education for 25 years and have been telling students that "DIET" is not a four-letter word. It doesn't mean punishment. The word does mean properly fueling our bodies to stay healthy.

Dr. Colbert shows you how to prepare food that is Elegant-Easy and Tastes Great. His idea on properly fueling our bodies works great and makes us look good too. It is a lively, quick and entertaining read.
