This review is from: High Sierra 27-Inch Wheeled Backpack (Sports)
upon purchasing this backpack, and having had a number of backpacks, duffels, etc. over the years, and often carry up to 30-35 lbs. of stuff in a bag. I've had great success with High Sierra backpacks over the years and though i lucked out with the price and size of this one. my hope was to condense all of my work stuff into one bag. No such luck. i have had this item for less than 6 months and used it for maybe 3. I carry a lot of stuff to and from work, binders, laptop, etc. and so it has only gone back and forth in my car, a few feet to and from the office or house, and has been treated well but the ridged plastic "frame" shattered under the lining after a few weeks. i thought maybe it was too much weight, lightened the load and used it with the zip-off backpack detached. it has continued to fall apart. the interior net bag pulled away from the zipper at the seam (ther was a 100 page notebook and sharpies in there!), and now as i went to pick it up--only about 25 lbs. of weight--the top handle pulled out at the seam. i will be contacting High Sierra but doubt there will be any refund or replacements made. thankfully i didn't use it to travel or i would have been shopping for luggage on vacation.

most versatile bag!, October 12, 2011
My husband and I have just returned from Italy. We knew we would be able to roll our bags most of the time but would need to backpack it some of the time to hotels that were a climb up many, old, stone steps. We would also be day hiking and could use the zip off backpack. Because I wanted a purse as well, I just put my empty purse in the small backpack when we checked the bag. Coming home that gave me room for purchases and I carried the purse on board. The large compartment is small enough that you can't take too much on your travels so even I, at 5'2" could swing the bag onto my back when needed. In the trains when we wanted our bags in the overhead area, vs. in the baggage area near the exits, we removed the smaller pack so they would fit.
I highly recommend this bag to students going abroad and trekkers who will use the backpack, and anyone who knows they may have stair climbing not conducive to a roller bag.

Good Luggage, April 17, 2011
This review is from: High Sierra 27-Inch Wheeled Backpack (Sports)
First off, this isn't a backpack. This is a carry-on bag that you'd bring on the airplane with you. It has backpack straps attached to it and even a small backpack that zippers onto it but, it's no backpack and it's appearance and structure would immediately support that statement.
I've owned this and one other High Sierra bag for about a year and have traveled with them, primarily by air, about 2 dozen times - although I unzipped the smaller backpack thing seen in the photo of this product and threw it in the back of my closet.
This luggage is rugged and tough. I have no complaints with it.
