4.0 out of 5 stars Very Versatile Luggage
I am very satisfied with this product because I travel a lot, for varied periods of time, and need something that can be either expanded and checked, or rolled aboard as carry on. The fabric is durable and the hardware sturdy. The handle at the base of the bag is ideal for lifting the case into overhead lockers and internally there are enough compartments, and not too...

This item was described as a carry-on that fits in the plane's overhead compartment -- not even close and, by the way, it was not over stuffed. The first time I used it I tried every which way to make it fit but to no avail. Now I know how Drusilla felt with the glass slipper!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Versatile Luggage, August 5, 2008
I am very satisfied with this product because I travel a lot, for varied periods of time, and need something that can be either expanded and checked, or rolled aboard as carry on. The fabric is durable and the hardware sturdy. The handle at the base of the bag is ideal for lifting the case into overhead lockers and internally there are enough compartments, and not too many, to keep my belongings easily accessible.

The backpack straps option is very useful for hands free manageability of multiple additional baggage so I don't find myself struggling with too many suitcases around the airport.

The only downside, in my opinion, is the absence of TSA approved locks which give you that peace of mind when you are checking baggage.

I was disappointed with the ordering process because the webpage showed that the product was in stock. In reality, it wasn't, which delayed delivery until AFTER I got back from the trip I had planned using it for.

Overall I am very happy. The item arrived in excellent condition and the price was very reasonable for what the product is.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great bag but too big for international carry on, January 14, 2011

Great bag and construction, but definitely on the big side. On the smaller domestic or international it may be too oversized for check in. Only remedy for that is get a 20" hardsided.

You better check with your airline before using this bag as a carry-on with all the size limit restrictions, extra charges and wonderful flight attendants that airlines now have. Other than that I think this duffel is GREAT for weekend travel, etc. I really like the zippered bottom for separating shoes from clothes and the small compartment on top for temporarily separating damp clothing, like swimming suits and flip flops, from the rest of your clothing. I HIGHLY recommend ANY High Sierra products that I have purchased BUT WATCH OUT FOR AIRLINE SIZE LIMITS!

I own two of these--the first I happened to find at a discount store while on a trip and need an extra bag for the trip home. Have flown a couple of dozen times since, and have not once been disappointed. Have not had a problem with overhead storage; but as each type of aircraft has different overhead capacity, it's always wise to make sure your bag fits within the bag dimension drawing at every airport. Once packed, I pull the straps tight... great feature! I check one of these on the free-baggage flights (aka Jet Blue) and unzip for the extra space; use overhead on other airlines. It's held up very well, rolls and handles easily. Haven't used as a backpack and have no need to; on occasion, my laptop fits perfectly into the front zipped pocket. Just ordered a 26" for longer trips.

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect carry-on, January 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Great piece of luggage. My husband and I bought one last summer and then bought two more to give as Christmas gifts to our adult sons. This bag is the greatest for carry-on convenience. It holds everything we need for a weekend away for the two of us. Lots of pockets and an expandable zipper option, (just in case you bring back more than you left with and have to check it).
