High Sierra Chaser Wheeled Book Bag Backpack

I bought this for my daughter in order to keep her from having her growth stunted by carrying a 3000 pound school backpack. I had high hopes for the High Sierra Backpack after reading customer reviews and reviews of other wheeled backpacks that this was the best backpack on wheels. It wasn't cheap but I thought, why skimp?

At first blush, this looked like a great backpack--well balanced and spacious. Nice materials. Chunky wheels placed just right, and the handle extends to a nice length for kids (my daughter is almost 11) and grown-ups (I'm a 6'5" grownup). It has a nice carrying handle when you tuck the extension handle away.

But almost immediately, when I checked out my daughter's new backpack and extended the handle, I became wary of the very wobbly construction. It felt like it wouldn't take much to have it snap off--like it wasn't really secured properly. And after only a week of use, that's exactly what happened. The entire handle and post came off completely. To add insult to injury, my daughter tried to put the backpack on her back when the handle broke, and one of the straps broke.

Others may have had good experiences with this bag, but as far as I am concerned, this backpack is basically garbage. If you are thinking this looks like a great buy, this is truly a case of how looks can be deceiving.

This backpack is great, my 9 years old boy loves it. It's easy to carry on, good materials and it's durable. Very pleased with the purchase and the time delivered, in less than a week the package was on my house.

This backpack is very cute! It has a lot of space and the wheels are nice and quiet. It is not heavy at all but is a bit bulky on the bottom. We had problems with fitting inside a junior high locker... My daughter loves it.

I should have known when I looked for a "book bag" that it was not intended for adults????? I would never have bought this item if I had the opportunity to handle it before ordering it. The rolling was the key need for this book bag. Unfortunately the handle does not extend far enough for an adult to comfortably use the rolling feature. I would not recommend this bag for anyone over 5 foot tall.

The backpack itself is nice and roomy and fairly sturdy. But, the handle isn't very strong. Our son broke his after 2 months of using this in the high school

The bag does exactly what I need, to give my daughter a break from carrying all those books on her back. Its very stylish and my daughter loves it. The bag is very roomy so it can hold many books. The soft wheels make it very easy to roll the bag on the streets. My daughter only had this bag for one month now, so far so good. We will have to see if it can stand up to the test of time.

Top quality materials, will not rip. My son is using this every day for more than 2 months now, and it really performs as expected.

this is a good overall bag. The handle did break after 3 months due to rough usage of 3rd graders. The company was very willing to replace it with out question.

Disappointed. Initially seemed like a solid wheeled backpack and a solid value. But now, just over 7 weeks into the school year, the telescopic handle has broken. Our 5th grader pulled up on the handle to extend it to pull / wheel the bag only to end up with the entire handle in his hand and no longer attached to the bag. The bag and handle has been used twice daily to and from school and has not met the challenge / rigor of what would seem to be medium duty at best. The bag and material portion has held up well but the handle mechanism has not rendering the bag useless for the purpose intended; to be wheeled not carried. Last years bag, purchased at BJs made it through the entire school year. Unfortunately, BJs did not carry the same bag this year.

I was a little concerned about this backpack because of the negative reviews about the handle but we have not had any issues with it so far. The handle seems durable and not at all fragile. My grandson loves the backpack and it is big enough to carry all his stuff back and forth from school via the bus.
