My wife and I have been using the High Sierra Showerhead for about 3 weeks now. We have reccomended this product to our friends. This showerhead offers suprising power for only 1.5gpm. My wife has long hair, and the showerhead offers more than sufficent force to wash the shampoo and conditioner out of her hair. When I first tried it out, I was skeptical that is was actually only 1.5gpm, because it felt like more. The water hits you in the chest with good power.

The showerhead looks like a regular old showerhead at first, but when you look straight at where the water comes out, it has an odd shaped opening. It looks like a little mouth. From the packaging that the product came with, this opening is part of the special design of this product.

The showerhead is small, but it is heavy. This would indicate to me that it is made from quality materials. Some other showerheads I have used are lightweight, and you just know that they are not made to last.

I cannot comment on the clog free claims the product makes. I have only used it for 3 weeks. However, you can see that the water all comes out of one hole. The water just sort of explodes out of the hole to make the shower pattern. The problem with other low flow showerheads is that the water comes out of lots of little holes. These little holes slowly plug up over time. Their clog free claim makes sense, but time will tell.

I found a video review of this product that I thought was kind of funny. I agree with this guy's assesment of the product.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE my new showerhead!, February 20, 2010

This review is from: High Sierra 1.5 GPM High Efficiency Low Flow Shower Head, Polished Chrome (Misc.)
I live in the desert where water is a precious resource. For conservation reasons AND to lower my water bill, I decided to replace my showerheads. It's hard to determine the "truth" about a product without using it, especially a product like a showerhead. So I turned to the Customer Review feature at Amazon and was convinced by what others said about the High Sierra Showerhead. Also viewed the little video mentioned by Reviewer R.Lee. I purchased two.

Now I want to add my public praise for this product that truly lives up to my expectations.

Product arrived in a couple of days.
Installation was easy; no plumber's tape required.
Water flow feels like a normal shower.
I like the turn-off valve on the showerhead that allows you to reduce the water flow or turn it off completely.
I also like the fact that the product has no plastic parts, as I have been reading negative things about how plastic promotes bacterial growth inside many showerheads.
Customer Service: Great! There is a real person at the other end of their "Contact" icon on their website.

For me, this is a 5-Star product. I hope my comments help you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Low Flow Shower Head, July 1, 2009
This review is from: High Sierra 1.5 GPM High Efficiency Low Flow Shower Head, Polished Chrome (Misc.)
My wife and I were completely amazed with this shower head product. I have worked in the construction industry for many years now and have never seen a shower head or plumbing product that reduces water consumption, but yet, gives the impression that more water is being released. I highly recommend the "Low Flow Showerhead" from High Sierra. It is convenient, innovative, and worth it's weight in gold!

5.0 out of 5 stars Side by side comparison of HighSierra 1.5 GPM, Ultra Saver Showerhead, 1.5 GPM and "hardware store" 2.5 GPM shower head, October 2, 2010

Within the span of a few of days, I had the privilege of using the HighSierra 1.5 GPM Shower Head, a "standard hardware store" 2.5 GPM shower head and the Ultra Saver Showerhead, 1.5 GPM also sold on amazon all on the same double shower fixture.

If you don't feel like reading the rest of my review, the HighSierra 1.5 GPM Shower Head is definitely the best of the three even if you don't take in to consideration that it's only 1.5 GPM.

We have a double fixture in our shower and we had been using the regular hardware store 2.5 GPM aerating shower heads on it. Yes, yes I know 5 GPM total... not very efficient.. but at least some of us only use one of the two heads. We had been very happy with the two 2.5 GPM heads on it but a few weeks ago I decided it was time to start saving some more water... I was going to replace one of the two heads and if it worked well I'd replace the second one. So... I purchased the Ultra Saver Showerhead, 1.5 GPM on amazon to try it out. The performance was disappointing. Not only was the pressure of the water coming out of the nozzle low, the lather switch, to shut of the water directly from the shower head allowed a huge amount of water to leak out. The two hardware store 2.5 GPM heads completely shut the water off right from the head which is a major advantage when using the double fixture.

Anyway after a few showers we decided we had to do something else so I gave the HighSierra a shot even though it was twice as expensive. Wow! What a difference. The pressure is great... It certainly feels more than the 2.5 GPM head. I know so because since it's a dual fixture with the HighSiera on one side and the 2.5 GPM on the other I can stand there and turn one on and one off in succession. It's not even worth comparing it to the Ultra Saver. Here is an additional benefit of the HighSierra that I only realized when I was doing this experiment. The head doesn't seem to aerate the stream as much so I actually have to turn the temperature down while using it. That's right. Because the stream isn't as aerated, the hot water seems hotter when it hits you so you can actually reduce your hot water usage with this head. The difference is fairly dramatic. Not only does it use 1.5 GPM but you require proportionally less hot water to keep the same temperature in the shower. So now not only are we saving water, we are using less energy to heat it.

Another experiment I tried was turning the volume of the water up and down. The HighSierra maintains a constant pressure for a wider range of volumes than the 2.5 GPM head. This means that if you have low water pressure in your house, you stand a good chance a getting a decent shower with the HighSierra.

The only negative I found about this head is that the lather switch doesn't work as well as the 2.5 GPM head. It lets a trickle of water through. Not enough to make it useless but it is annoying.

Needless to say I'm buying my second HighSierra head today.
I highly recommend it.

Pros: High pressure, low water usage, on-head flow control, maintains water temperature, small size, small price.

Cons: Limited articulation.

This is, by far, the best shower head I have used thus far. It's high pressure is not too strong. You won't end up like Kramer but you will be thoroughly cleansed. As a long shower taker, I appreciate the low water usage. It makes me feel less guilty for killing the planet. The flow control on the head is very useful in a tight shower stall environment. It makes it easy to turn the water off and on without losing temperature and time. Because there is no aerator, the water temperature is maintained very well. Due to the small size of this shower head, installation was very easy and it provides more room in said tight shower stall.

I bought 1 of these about 5 years ago for my kids shower (4 of them). Never heard a complaint till they had to use my wife and I's shower...They thought ours was weak and not much water, Little did they know ours used much more water. Silly us..So I got my 2nd one and it is installed. WoW my kids are correct do not tell them..Works great plus, I use the shut off to lather up than rinse so using even less water...Wife and I both agree should have switched years ago....Get one and start enjoying your shower more with less $$$$$$$...

I replaced both of our shower nozzles with these low flow nozzles. They work great and you can't notice any difference in flow.

5.0 out of 5 stars makes the grade and great seller support, May 31, 2011

This review is from: High Sierra 1.5 GPM High Efficiency Low Flow Shower Head, Polished Chrome (Misc.)
I bought this shower head and a few others to test for use to save water. I actually did a scientific review by installing each shower head in turn and running them on a standard shower run collecting everything in a 5 gallon bucket held under the shower head for 2 minutes. I then compared the shower heads and measured how much water they actually put out in the 2 minutes. This shower head was above the 1.5 gpm. It put out 2-2.2 gpm. So it does NOT save the water like it claims. And, as opposed to another reviewer that preferred this to the Ultra saver, I found the Ultra saver worked better and actually did what it claimed. However, this shower head does have a great force to it, so it does give a good shower.
Overall, good force but bad water savings that goes against its claims so only a fair (3) rating.

UPDATE!
After my review I was given the opportunity for a retrial by the seller. The seller really stood behind the product, and I was very impressed by that. I received replacement units and have spent the past month or so testing them. I retried the new units, had my girlfriend, my daughters, my nieces, my brother AND sister-in-law all use it repeatedly. Thumbs up all around. On the retest with the new units, they did what they claimed. 1.5 gpm with great flow. In fact, the quality of the stream got great reviews from the women, most of whom have long thick hair. I changed my review and must say...5 stars for a great product and great support!

5.0 out of 5 stars After one year of use, this shower head is as great as the day it was installed, January 2, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: High Sierra 1.5 GPM High Efficiency Low Flow Shower Head, Polished Chrome (Misc.)
I was skeptical that a shower head so small would produce the pressure needed to rinse my thick hair, but the High Sierra High Efficiency head does the trick. I have tried most styles of shower heads - the wide head, handheld, massaging head - but mineral deposits are a problem in my area. Without daily scrubbing, all heads became clogged, and our pressure was pathetic.

I did lots of research before deciding on the High SierraI 1.5 GPM High Efficiency. There are other high efficiency models available but I, as always, read the reviews by Amazon customers to help me decide. I have used the High Sierra for almost a year, and the pressure is as good as the day we installed it. AND, I have NEVER had to clean mineral deposits from the head. Other reviewers complain about the pressure for anyone other than tall people - I am 5'2", and the pressure is forceful enough to rinse shampoo, conditioner and color quickly from my thick hair. I love this shower head and can't imagine ever ordering another brand or type.
