I purchased this bag from another retailer just on a whim. I am pleased with the size and style. It is large enough for my 15 inch laptop with padding on that side of the bag and still leaves room for lunch, files, shoes etc. I particularly like the side accessory pocket and the fact that the bag zips shut. It is neither too small nor too large. It has the side pocket that can be used for a drink or small umbrella. The straps are neither too long nor too short; long enough to go over my shoulder and short enough that it is comfortable to carry in my hand without fearing the bag will drag the ground. Makes a great bag for taking things to/from work and would be very good as a carryon bag when traveling. The weight of the bag is good too; light-weight but still substantial and does not add unnecessary weight. I recommend this bag.

Ever since I got this bag I have literally used it everyday. Its my work/commute bag holding files, lunch, water bottle, wristlet purse, badge, ear phones, e-readers, phone, charger, sunglasses etc etc. I'm also studying, so have my big ol' textbook in there
On the weekend, all that stuff is out and enter in diaper pad, diapers, 2 sippy cups, snacks, spare kids clothes, rolled up blankie, toys, spoons, bibs.
The outer zipper is great, as it holds band-aids, some first-aid medications.
The top (secret) pocket between one of the handle is great for cell phone, chapstick, quickly tuck away reciepts.
The tote handles go around my single umbrella stoller (both handles), so, its great for a day out for a picnic, theme parks.
TIPS:
1) The bag doesnt claim to be a laptop bag, sure there is enough room for it though, you will need to protect your laptop, or e-reader with its own case/sleeve.
2) Its a soft tote, which means you can only hang or set against a wall or something. it is not self-standing unless the stuff in there is flat.
3) Also, I carry a wristlet inside this tote in case I want to step out for lunch and only need some cash/credit card, phone and id.
Other than that, looks clean, handles are good and dont slip.
4) Good for rough and tough use and machine washable. Weekend trips, carryon in flight, buses, trains, day outside. Stuff, zip and go.
5) Its not a designer/branded tote. I did use a permanent marker to make that "sierra" white thread stitching less visible.

I commute to work on the subway everyday, so I was looking for a bag that could stand up to that type of punishment, plus be fairly compact so it doesn't take up a lot of space when the trains get crowded. This bag meets all of those requirments. The straps fit easily over my shoulders and don't slip off. The bag itself is lightweight and can fit my lunch, my laptop which is just shy of 16" (the bag has a section for your laptop, but I keep mine in a sleeve and the sleeve fits just fine), my ereader, and some work papers. Although the bag is lightweight, it appears to be very strong. I've been looking for a bag like this for a year and have gone through every incarnation -- from backpacks, tote bags, and even diaper bags, but this one is just great.

Maybe there were reviews warning me about the giant logo, but I must have missed them. There's a huge logo that says "High Sierra" on the side that's not visible in the photos.

Another thing I don't like is that the bag won't stand up unless it's leaning against something. Also, there's a huge gaping pocket without a zipper or anything on the inside (presumably for a laptop?) that catches everything it's not supposed to.

I've wanted a tote bag for my laptop for a long time. I've looked and tried all kinds. And I've spent money, lord have I spent money, on trying to find the perfect thing. Then I found this bag, at such a cheap price and it's perfect!

I have a 15in Macbook and I wanted a tote bag that I could use for daily commuting and traveling that would be durable, hold everything but maintain a slim silhouette, look nice - this bag does all of that! On a daily basis I have all my gym stuff in the main compartment and then on days I need to bring my laptop home for some overtime it easily slips into it's pocket. I really like that the material is resistant to stains and water (I take a bus every day) and zips closed for when it rains. The org pockets on the inside are great and the little slip pocket on the outside is perfect for a cellphone or ipod. The front pocket can hold files or notebooks and the side pocket is perfect for a water bottle or umbrella.

the ONLY thing I don't like is that they stitched their name into it in white. WHY oh WHY did they have to do that? It makes it look cheap. I colored it in with a black marker and then bought some pretty flower pins to attach over it. But it annoys me since a black bag in this material would easily look professional enough to take into client meetings just on it's own. Adding those embellishments works, but is not ideal.

Anyways, recommend it if you're looking for a great travel/commute bag and have a ton of stuff!

UPDATE: I dragged this bag for a month through Asia. Loaded it with 40 lbs. and squished it under the seat on the plane. Then it got lugged around, kicked, chewed by a puppy and thoroughly abused. I brought it back last week after logging tends of thousands of miles with it and washed it. It looks like new. The four corners at the bottom are intact and it's good to go for another long trip. Great value for money. I've revised this from four to five stars. If it came with the velcro to hold the pockets shut, I would give it ten stars. And those handles were very comfy.

______________________________________________

The bag itself is sturdy and well constructed. It holds a lot and the main compartment opening is wide enough to get a lot in. I have another tote of the same size that can't get my folded peacoat in because the mouth is not designed to be as wide as this one.

It has a few organisational pockets inside and several outside. Love the ability to carry a water bottle or two outside and that the water bottle pocket is not a flimsy piece of mesh and is adaptable to other items that are bulkier (like mitts and scarves) as well.

It's big and will work well as a gym bag and an everyday bag and though I am a petite gal, it looks large, but not too large on me. It's light and soft enough to scrunch into another piece of luggage while travelling.

Cons:
1. What's with the thin handles? They stay on your shoulder only if there are some things in the bag. When the bag is empty, they slide off, especially on a slick fabric like a waterproof coat. They need to be a tad longer to be able to wear comfortably on your shoulder when you have a thick coat on.
