Better Than Expected, May 28, 2010
This review is from: High Sierra Torrent 70 Hydration Pack (Apparel)
We just returned from a trip to Southeast Asia, so this is a real-world review. First, a few things the site fails to mention: the pack has dual cross straps, one for the chest and one for the waist, the chest strap has built in elastic, the netting that is stored in the bottom of the pack (and attaches at the top) is perfect for holding damp clothes or beach towel and each pocket has dual zippers.
Highs:
Very comfortable (The Air Flow System keeps it from sticking to you)
Additional space available even with a full reservoir (Think day trip/protein bars and suntan lotion)
Good Water Flow (once you get the knack)
Lows:
It took several rinses before the plastic taste diminishes (try baking soda)
Suggestion:
Use small rubber bands to keep the straps from flapping about.
All in all, an excellent value!

Bag size seemed perfect, but couldn't hold water, July 20, 2010
This review is from: High Sierra Torrent 70 Hydration Pack (Apparel)
I was pretty excited to get this yesterday just in time for a brick workout--20 mile bike ride followed by 5 mile run. The heat and humidity have been so bad this summer that a longer excursion like that almost requires a hydration pack.
I filled the bladder up in the sink and started to put it back in the bag when I noticed water streaming off of it (not just a drip, but a constant stream). At first I thought I had gotten too sloppy with the water in the sink and it was just pouring off the outside of the bag. I put it in the outer backpack type bag and was going to use it anyway, but found that the water was leaking from where the hose meets the bladder so bad that it was impossible to get a drink.
I wanted to love this. The pack was a great size for both biking and running (plus had a place to store your helmet when not in use!), but it was impossible to use. I'm thinking that the extra money for the CamelBak is worth it.
Had this happened to me after a year or two of use I might be alright with it, but since it happened day one, I give it one star.

OK for the price, July 23, 2010
This review is from: High Sierra Torrent 70 Hydration Pack (Apparel)
I had to cut open the mouth piece! The mouthpiece on the hydration hose had no hole in it at all to suck the water through. Luckily, I figured out how to cut one with my exacto knife in the right spot so it will close of when you're not biting it. So far I'm happy with the pack for the price.
I think the problem others are having with the leak where the hose connects to the bag is because it screws in right there and seems to easily come loose. The problem could also be with the rubber gasket right there which makes the seal tight. If it's leaking it might be because the gasket is missing or positioned incorrectly. I screwed it in real tight and haven't had a problem yet. I'll report back after a few weeks of use.
