Disappointed,
By Ian Goddard (Rockville, MD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: High Societies: Psychedelic Rock Posters from Haight-Ashbury (Paperback)
This book was a great disappointment. The vast majority of posters are tiny 1-by-2 inch reproductions. So huge amounts of fine intricate psychedelic-art detail is hopelessly lost. There are 18 'full page' reproductions (usually of less-interesting or already well-known posters), and some quarter-page repros too. But most of the space of the book is devoted to text about the art, but I bought the book just for the art. I'll have to look elsewhere for a definitive collection of this most-dramatic, beautiful, and all-too forgotten art genre.

Catalog for an Art Show,
By
This review is from: High Societies: Psychedelic Rock Posters from Haight-Ashbury (Paperback)
The reviewer misinterpreted what this item is. It is the catalog for an art show that was at the San Diego Museum of Art called "High Art". The images are small as is traditional for many show catalogs. The text however gives a nice overview of this art written by the few experts there are on it. Think of it as a teaser to get you hungry for more of this art in "The Art of Rock" or some of the other books.
