5.0 out of 5 stars A lighthearted, amusing romp -- Very highly recommended, April 24, 2003
This review is from: High-Tide Bride (Harlequin American Romance, No 968) (Mass Market Paperback)
When Sheriff Clay Mitchell stops the woman in the voluminous wedding dress who just took out a street sign and fence, she refuses to provide a name or registration. Correction, she cannot provide the registration because she "borrowed" the catering van to escape her own wedding when she realized her fiancé and her father were conspiring to use her to further their political aspirations. Hope refuses to give her name, however, until she has time to figure out her life, and Paradise Creek seems like a good place to do it after a night in jail.

Clay does not know quite what to do with the woman he nicknames Red. She barters fashion sense for bail with his deputy, saves a child and a church, and sparks wild physical attraction in him. Soon the entire town conspires to conceal her true identity from Clay, embracing her as one of their own. Worse, Clay gets lovelorn advice from a ten year old and meddling in his love life from the geriatric set in their determination to right the tone of Paradise Creek after Clay tickets virtually anything that moves in sheer frustration over Red's appearance in his life. But it will take more than being locked in his own jail to set Clay's heart free.

Author Dianne Castell pens a mad cap adventure of love, matchmaking and self discovery in HIGH-TIDE BRIDE. Readers will delight in this marvelous cast of characters. Red brings a spontaneous impecuniousness to the small town of Paradise Creek and the Sheriff determined to keep the status quo. While Clay tries to restrain his responses, Red paints the jail, his desk and the water cooler in a frenzy that leaves them both breathless and still filled with desire. Secondary characters likewise dazzle, with an entire town filled with matchmakers of all ages. A marvelously romantic read, HIGH-TIDE BRIDE provides the perfect distraction from the ordinary and mundane. HIGH-TIDE BRIDE comes very highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Romantic Comedy, June 24, 2003

This review is from: High-Tide Bride (Harlequin American Romance, No 968) (Mass Market Paperback)
Dianne Castell writes such funny stories - I was laughing out loud all through the book. Hope runs away from her wedding when she learns that her dad set her up with this guy for political reasons. So she "borrows" the catering van and leaves D.C. in a rush. She crashes in a small town, gets all tangled in her wedding dress trying to get out of the van and comes face to face with the oh so handsome, oh so furious, sheriff. Then they both get tangled in her dress which could double as a parachute and fall down. She refuses to give him her name because she doesn't want her father to find her. The Sheriff hauls her off to jail. There is an instant attraction between the two but both try to deny it because of their previous experience in disastrous relationships. True love conquers in the end, of course, but what a wild ride getting there!

5.0 out of 5 stars Humor and Unique Characters Make This Book Fabulous!, April 15, 2003
This review is from: High-Tide Bride (Harlequin American Romance, No 968) (Mass Market Paperback)
I laughed out loud! Dianne Castell Blends humor, romance and amazing characters to write the best romance novel I've ever read. The town of paradise creek is created so vividly I feel like I can step into the pages, and walk down the street to get a cup of coffee at Katie's Kitchen.
This book and Dianne Castell's first book "Court Appointed Marriage" are an excellent addition to anyone's romance library!

5.0 out of 5 stars High-Tide Bride, April 13, 2003
This review is from: High-Tide Bride (Harlequin American Romance, No 968) (Mass Market Paperback)
High-Tide Bride by Dianne Castell is a lighthearted, fun story about runaway bride Hope Stevens and small-town sheriff Clay Mitchell. When Hope comes crashing into town in a stolen van, wearing a huge wedding gown, with no ID, by-the-book Clay has no choice but to take her to Paradise Creek's local jail. Refusing to give her name, Hope, simply called Red, proceeds to charm everyone in town, including a reluctant Clay. Although Clay is attracted to Hope, he is sure the city girl will quickly become bored in a small town like Paradise Creek, and never look back as she leaves him behind. But Hope is reveling in her newly-found independence, and plans to stick around. She is equally attracted to Clay, but wants no part of another arrogant, controlling male. After all, that's why she ran away from her own wedding. Can a town full of well-meaning matchmakers convince Clay and Hope that they are made for each other?

High-Tide bride is humorous, sexy, and fun to read. I'm looking forward to more!

5.0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable story, April 13, 2003

What a delightful story. Dianne Castell's High-Tide Bride is a joy from beginning to end. Hope "Red" Stevens is running away from a life she no longer wants and runs into the sexy sheriff Clay Mitchell. Hope is tired of everyone telling her what to do and Clay is a by the book sheriff. Clay and Hope's romance gets a lot of assistance by some memorable townsfolk's. The dialogue was snappy and a lot of laughs. Will be sure to keep a lookout for the next book from Dianne.

From the first page when sexy, but bossy, Sheriff Clay Mitchell stops feisty runaway bride Hope Stevens in her borrowed catering van, they spark and sizzle like two matches in the small town of Paradise Creek. This Harlequin American Romance is a fun, fast-paced read which can be enjoyed in one-sitting. The story will make you smile and laugh out loud! A definite keeper.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read!, November 28, 2005
This review is from: High-Tide Bride (Harlequin American Romance, No 968) (Mass Market Paperback)
Runaway bride Hope Stevens had had it with arrogant, bossy men. She ends up crashing a "borrowed" catering van in a ditch in Sweet Creek. She has decided to turn her life around and discover herself, without a bossy father or fiance to tell her what to do all the time. Clay has been the sheriff of this little town for years and is used to everyone following his orders. But when he arrest "Red" as he call hope since she have not given him her name he didn't know what to do. He wants to kiss her one minute and strangle her the next. Battle of wills, and the force of a small town "gossip" are other ingredients in this great book. Once again Dianne has succeeded in giving us readers a great fun, sexy and heartwarming romance. If you enjoy reading sexy and fun this is a great choice for you to read.
