3.0 out of 5 stars A good primer for Assassination buffs
Origionally written in '88, Livingstone was not able to update his information when he re-released this book. Although he does include an appendix with new information about the Z-film and the X-rays. I'd recommend reading his latest book Killing Kennedy or Jim Fetzer's Assassination Science, both of which have explosive new evidence of forgery in the photographic...

This review is from: High Treason: The Assassination of JFK & the Case for Conspiracy (Carroll & Graf) (Paperback)
This was the book that introduced me to the mysteries surrounding the JFK Assassination. Recently, I revisited this book and read it again. I am glad I did.

I found this book to be an interesting read. I also found it to be very direct and to the point about what the authors think happened. I appreciated how they lined the information out step by step by step to back up their beliefs.

I was particularly interested in the unusual deaths of those people who are associated with the JFK murder. The large number of deaths in the unusual manners indicate a conspiracy if nothing else does. I like that this was covered in this book because many books tend to miss this point.

There are many conspiracy theories out there. I found that this one had proof and evidence that seemed to back up what might have happened. This is a good book and can be a good introduction to the JFK mystery.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Of The Most Important Books Ever Written., September 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: High Treason: The Assassination of JFK & the Case for Conspiracy (Carroll & Graf) (Paperback)
"High Treason" is a document written in blood about how government really works. Every American interested in their rights and in our system, should read this book with care. "High Treason" is a magnificent work because it understands the structure of power and how powerful men work. I have not read a more convincing book on the conspiracy to kill JFK. Posner and Livingston present an enormous amount of convincing evidence. I would place this book by Oliver Stone's masterpiece, "JFK." "High Treason" is an important book that I think should be read in schools. Not so much as to educate on the Kennedy assassination, but on the workings of our government and how power really works. I'm glad it has been republished with new information. I was so enfuriated by Gerald Posner's load of shit, "Case Closed." "High Treason" REALLY looks for the truth. And in the end, is disturbing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, take the time to read it, its worth it!, September 14, 1999

This review is from: High Treason: The Assassination of JFK & the Case for Conspiracy (Carroll & Graf) (Paperback)
I felt that this book was well worth the time that it took toread. Groden and Livingstone wrote in-depth all of the inaccuracies ofthe Warren's Report and other conflicting evidence that our government states as being the truth. The only negative thing that I can say about this book is that it can be a bit confusing and takes quite a bit of time to read. I am sure that I will be re-reading it again to pick up on parts that never did sink in. Others have put this book down by saying that Groden made all of the evidence fit his "theory" of a conspiracy. A theory is a speculation just like how the Warren's Report is a theory, its not true fact and most of use would agree with that.

Overall, very good book, worth the time to read. Remember, keep an open mind.

This book took me by surprise after reading the 26 volumes of the Warren Report. This book shows you a concise, detailed account of all the evidence ignored by the Warren Commision and the House Select Committee on Assassinations. I highly recommend this book to anybody who believes that JFK's Assassination issue is closed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A thorough and overall objective analysis of the JFK assasination., July 28, 2005

This review is from: High Treason: The Assassination of JFK & the Case for Conspiracy (Carroll & Graf) (Paperback)
The authors do a very credible and thorough job of bringing to light facts that make it very difficult to believe that a lone gunman killed JFK from the rear. The forensic medical evidence, including eye witness reports from multiple health care workers who directly saw the President's wounds, is particularly compelling, as is evidence that the autopsy films and other documents were altered. Convincing analysis of the Zapruder film, is also presented, as well as detailed analysis of photographs, including some apparently faked photos of Oswald. The deaths of multiple witnesses in so short of a period of time is not only further suggestion of cover up of a conspiracy, but is very chilling as well. The evidence presented is detailed and rather technical at times, but it seems that this approach is essential if the real facts are to be uncovered. If there is a weakness to the book, it is that the authors sometimes damage their credibility slightly by being overly speculative at times, and sometimes engage in "purple prose" where a more even-handed approach would have been more suitable. But on a topic of such emotionality and divisiveness, the book is overall very level headed and objective. Due to the comprehensiveness and technicality of some of the material, this might not be a good introduction to the topic. However, if you are already familiar with the basic issues surrounding the assassination, or if you enjoy such detailed material, this book would be an excellent choice.

4.0 out of 5 stars No "Conspiracy Theory" in this writing...instead, Conspiracy "Facts"!!!, February 23, 2005
This review is from: High Treason: The Assassination of JFK & the Case for Conspiracy (Carroll & Graf) (Paperback)
Nearly seventy (70) percent of all U.S. citizens polled believe there was a conspiracy to assassinated President John F. Kennedy. For those familiar with the circumstances involved in his murder, this book provides a detailed analysis of facts, times, and eyewitness accounts that clearly indicate the obviousness of the conspiracy. Those reviewers who found Gordon & Livingstone's writing to be difficult to read may consider a course in "Hooked on Phonics". This is not a novel. It is a fact-finding effort that requires the reader to use an analytical approach and understand that it is written in an almost textbook fashion. Acknowledging that, this book is quite informative and although minoninous at times, basically a good read.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great book for those already VERY familiar with the crime., December 19, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: High Treason: The Assassination of JFK & the Case for Conspiracy (Carroll & Graf) (Paperback)
This is a great book for those that have already done a great deal of research on the assassination; it is NOT for beginners. The reason for this is twofold; the sheer amount of information that is alluded to would take 3-4 volumes if background information had to be included with each assertion, and the writing style of the authors is unique.

Many other reviewers have alluded to this writing style, calling it "hard to read" or "hard to follow". I did not experience this at all, and in fact found the authors' sarcasm in some cases both witty and exclamative. Truthfully, I enjoyed the way the book was written. Additionally, the index of the book is both extensive and in many cases illustrative of some finer points.

Again, I would not give this book as a gift to an assassination novice, but for those of us who enjoy studying this event this book offers much food for thought.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thorough review of all pertinent data., September 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: High Treason: The Assassination of JFK & the Case for Conspiracy (Carroll & Graf) (Paperback)
Though it can be a little dry at times, ' High Treason' is an upfront, clear and concise accounting of the events surrounding 22 Nov 1963. The dryness can only be attributed to the complete and thourough inclusion of all pertinent evidence relevent to a murder investigation of this type. Too many of these books tend to sell a story to the reader, and while 'High Treason'does contain some great 'Sound Bites', the research is sound and provacative. The thoroughness of this investigation is more than the culmination of the author's lifetime of work, it is an insight into a decade gone wrong. How the Warren Commission could espouse it's findings is a question that can only be answered by historians decades away. If you are serious about learning about one of the greatest travesties in U.S. history, this is a great place to start.

Origionally written in '88, Livingstone was not able to update his information when he re-released this book. Although he does include an appendix with new information about the Z-film and the X-rays. I'd recommend reading his latest book Killing Kennedy or Jim Fetzer's Assassination Science, both of which have explosive new evidence of forgery in the photographic evidence.

Both books explore the historic work of Dr. David Mantik, a radio-oncologist, who was given permission to study the X-rays of Kennedy. Using a devise called an optical densitometer he has irrefutable proof that areas of Kennedy's skull that nearly all the Dallas doctors say was blasted out has been covered artificially. This along with Fetzer's examination of the Z-film shed a whole new light on the assassination. We now have SCIENTIFIC proof, not speculation like the Warren Commission had!
