5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping
This outstanding book kept me on the edge of my seat I could hardly put it down. I think that Mr Majd captured the strength and courage of this young pilot Kate Gallagher. I couldnt wait until the next struggle that this woman had to endure...and all with fantastic strength. Mr Majd's experience as a pilot was surely evident in this book. I could feel as though I was...

3.0 out of 5 stars A fun Read
I thorougly enjoyed this book. It was a fun read that keep you turning the pages.
That said the plot was pretty predictable. I would highly recommend this for your next
long cross country flight or just a time when there is not a lot better to do.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun read., March 29, 2003

This review is from: High Wire (Mass Market Paperback)
The first 80% of Kam Majd's debut novel "High Wire" is nearly impossible to put down. The final 20% needs a suspension of disbelief equal to that of a James Bond movie. No matter, it is an entertaining ride.

Essentially a techo-thriller featuring a ticking clock with a cat and mouse chase (the hunted hunting the hunters). Creatively written, filled with nonstop tension and shifting loyalties, it is easy to get hooked.

"High Wire" truly deserves its Edgar nomination.

I liked the way Mr. Majd developed his characters. The protagonists are resourceful, the villains especially devious and their crime quite ingenious.

Looking forward to more in this series.

Cant wait for HIGH IMPACT.

5.0 out of 5 stars I wouldn't want to read on an airplane, January 28, 2006

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: High Wire (Mass Market Paperback)
This book came up on my Amazon recommendations years ago, but I just got around to buying it recently. I wish I hadn't waited!

It's a great story that (unfortunately) could possibly come true. (Which is why I wouldn't want to read it on a plane.) It's a thriller with a strong female lead, which is a nice change of pace. It's got lost of suspense, but also lots of real human emotion. I was so engrossed in the story that I was actually crying as I read.

I can't wait to read another Kam Majd novel!

4.0 out of 5 stars From the view of a female pilot..., November 28, 2003

This review is from: High Wire (Mass Market Paperback)
I really enjoyed this book. It was given to me as a gift because it was a book about "women who fly." Since I am a pilot I am often given books about flying (fiction, biography, you name it). This book got my attention right from the start and I felt the action and characters were believable. It is a page-turner, can't-wait-to-see-what-happens-next kind of fiction that is fun to read. A perfect beach or vacation read where you can lose yourself and just go along for the ride.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tops! Right up there with the big name authors!! LOVED IT!, March 21, 2002
This review is from: High Wire (Mass Market Paperback)
This read was a wonderful surpise!! I'd never heard of Majd before this book & it literally had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Very talented author who will be HUGE one day VERY soon! Characters were very authentic & the technological expertise on Majd's part was stunning! That's what really made the book so fabulous! Especially since the 9/11 attack to see a Mom up there in a plane trying to land it with the chance of dying & speaking to her daughter on the phone--it had me crying, too!! I can't wait for the next book--if it's half as good as this one I'll buy it the DAY it comes out!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Teriffic Read, February 17, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: High Wire (Mass Market Paperback)
High Wire is an easy read with a compelling plot line. Industrious pilot Kate Gallagher finds herself in the center of controversy, and only she is interested in determining the real truth. She is tough, sharp, and most if all, believable.

The story moves quickly, and I just about read the book straight through, without much of a break. It's that absorbing!

This is quite a first book for Kam Majd--it sure doesn't read like a first effort. I can't wait to find out what she gets herself into next in High Impact!
