4.0 out of 5 stars Good for a quick review
I found this book pretty helpful. If you buy it, don't expect and exhaustive review. It's goal is to go over the very basics. I used it during pathology at the beginning, when I was first learning things and was a bit overwhelmed by Robbins. HY pathology is easy to read, with clear diagrams.

1.0 out of 5 stars The worst of the High Yield series - limited application.
What it does right: Very easy to read, info is organized well when present. Very simple (good and bad).

What it does wrong: Overly simple and severely lacking in critical info necessary to differentiate pathologies. Not enough pathology present. Insufficient for USMLE.

Conclusion: This book does not live up to its claim at all. It is NOT useful...

Conclusion: This book does not live up to its claim at all. It is NOT useful for USMLE prep or course work. It IS useful to quickly review generalizations of topics possibly before learning them in detail, but the book lacks so much detail, you could never study from it. Simple is good for quick refreshers (you can read this book in a few hrs) - but Goljan RR path is the Gold standard for pathology. Only buy this book if path intimidates you and you want to get a jump on it before you become and MSII. I question its usefulness in a medical school path course (as the author claims it was written for) bc you could barely diagnose typical community acquired pneumonia with the info in this book.
