Book Description

September 1, 2003
Book 2 of The Trials of Kit Shannon. Kit Shannon takes on the case of a woman whose young son is tragically killed on a turn-of-the-century Los Angeles trolley. She soon finds herself up against a powerful coalition of railroad men and politicians--all of whom seem to have something to hide. In her attempt to unravel the secret, Kit's suspicions may blow the lid off a conspiracy of corruption. Unwilling to compromise her belief in justice, Kit's very life is at risk. Powerful people will stop at nothing to keep her from finding out the truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another success for Bell, February 11, 2004

This review is from: A Higher Justice (The Trials of Kit Shannon #2) (Paperback)
James Scott Bell, a very accomplished author, meets with success again in this continuation of the life of Kit Shannon. This spunky lady lawyer exhibits "likability" right off the bat. A very entertaining story that drew me into its pages from the first chapter to the suprising climax, right on through to the delightful ending! You will not be disappointed if you like to read dramatic, mystery books. A little bit of all elements that make a good mystery book are found here. Alas, no swear words, thankfully, so that makes it a GREAT book, in my thoughts! Can't wait for the next one in the series!

I read this book in a day; it held me right from the beginning. I was so engrossed that I nearly missed my plane as I didn't hear the flight called. Bell writes spellbinding fiction which you don't want to put down. If you enjoy legal thrillers you will enjoy this book.

The second book in the Trials of Kit Shannon series continues Kit's interesting story and does not disappoint. It is filled with the customary law, drama, and intrigue that characterizes Bell's other books. It was a very entertaining read that I would recommend to any fan of law and history.
