The Highest Bidder is a wonderful addition to the Dynasties series The Ashton's. I chose this book because of the author, quite honestly. However, after reading this book I realized that the entire series must be very good based on the family itself, full of mystery intrigue, disfunction and dynamics.

The main characters Matt and Paige are a warm, witty and sensual couple. When Paige finds herself in a uncomfortable situation on stage because a bachelorette had gone missing, her cousin's friend Matt feels sorry for her. So Matt bids a ton of $$'s and wins the chance for a date with Paige.

As their story enfolds, one is treated to learning about this couple. Matt, a self made millionaire, not born into wealth, holds his emotions in, funny, sexy, intelligent, talented. Paige, the baby in the Ashton family, shy, smart, sweet, sensitive and the Winery event planner.

Their journey together is bitter sweet and I honestly couldn't but the book down. I think I'm going to invest in the rest of the series based on this book. If you enjoy The Highest Bidder then you'll enjoy Roxanne's McGrath Brother Series by Silhoueette Desire....The Fire Still Burns, Like a Hurricane and When the Earth Moves.

When Paige Ashton finds herself on the auction block at the charity bachelorette auction that she herself had organized, she never imagined that she would end up being "bought" by Walker Camberlane, one of the most handsome men on the face of the earth. Their date propels the two to embark on a business relationship that promises to benefit both of them, only to have it compromised by a single act of passion. While they both want a deeper, more intimate relationship, there are obstacles in their way.

Roxanne St. Claire has written a touching, tender, heartwarming book with characters that fully compliment each other. I have yet to read a book by Ms. St. Claire that I haven't loved, and I give The Highest Bidder a high recommendation.

Though it was not as well developed as her 'Bullet Catcher' sets but for a book of less than 200 pages, it certainly was enjoyable and carried on the plot of the series very well. The writing style always catched your attention. The heroine was genuinely a nice person and definitely got enough guts to go after what she wants. The hero was a little too good to be true but, hey, this was a great dream for a girl.

The music was a also nice touch (I am a Sinatra's fan).

Good job, Roxanne St. Claire.
