This review is from: The Highest Good/The Shadow of an Agony (Paperback)
This book was taken from Oswald Chamber's talks at the Cairo Y.M.C.A during the First World War. Soon after these talks a desease had seemingly robbed Oswald Chambers and his Christian genius from the very Christian world that so needed his insights. Many of the books published by Oswald Chambers were talks like these, taken from the notes his wife had faithfully penned. In these talks, Oswald, like a generation of great Christian thinkers was wrestling with the true nature of Christianity in a world that had left its "Christian" morings and had descended into some of the worst violence and injustice that supposedly Christian nations had ever experienced. Oswald was one, who like P.T. Forsyth, was calling modern men back to the true fundamentals of the Gospel of Redemption. He consistently taught that a new heredity, gained through the new birth made possible by Calvary, was the only basis of a true and lasting change in human nature.
