4.0 out of 5 stars nice watch, quiet alarm
I needed a watch that could clip on to my belt loop instead of being on my wrist or in my pocket. The TrailHead watch works great for this. But I also chose it because I needed something with 3 alarms that I could use at work. It has the 3 alarms, but unfortunately, unless you're in a very quiet situation, they're too quiet to hear when attached to your belt loop. And the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Ergonomic Design, Totally inadequate alarm
I like the watch so I did not send it back. The watch is designed well. I am amazed they did not make the alarm audible. You cannot rely on this alarm to wake you up, thus making it worthless for this function. Otherwise I would rate it 5 stars.

And the alarm stops after 20 seconds so you may never notice it. I've taken to wearing it on my shirt collar so it's nearer my ears. That usually works, but I have failed to notice it a couple times, even then.

You should probably try to avoid using the electronic compass component unless necessary. It's supposed to be a real battery drainer.

I love this watch. Numbers are large and readable, functions are great. However the clasp broke after 3 weeks of use, without any excessive stress or wear.

1.0 out of 5 stars An expensive mistake, October 17, 2008

All the functions work well except the alarm is very soft.

After wearing it on my belt loop for one week, the carabiner clip came off the watch allowing it to fall to the ground. The watch was not hurt but it is of no further use since it cannot be used on the belt loop as intended.

1.0 out of 5 stars Only good for 2 days, July 16, 2008

I bought this as a gift for a friend. From the photo and the name "trailhead watch", I had the impression that this would be a sturdy, rugged watch. But on the third day that my friend carried it with him in his pocket, the carabiner clip came apart in about a dozen little pieces inside his pocket. It was never dropped, or mishandled, it just fell apart. The watch itself still works.

5.0 out of 5 stars On what do you base a rating?, March 8, 2008

Perhaps I cannot rate this watch. I have never used the chronograph, the timer. or the compass. No reason to believe they do not perform their functions in an outstanding manner. How many people use these functions often?

Tried the alarm and found the volume to be too low to wake me. That is why I pack a travel clock.

As far as a watch goes, the watch has been great. I use the dual time zone frequently. The watch hung on a belt loop is out of the way but handy. The control buttons are of a nice size. They control watch functions clearly and easily. The watch is designed so that a control function is not accidentally actuated.

I like the watch so much I am buying a second.
