I've read a few reviews with folk saying a regular 2x8 or 2x10 doesn't fit under the lip of the ramp. If those folks had taken a second to look at the directions, the board isn't meant to go under the lip of the ramp It's meant to butt up against the lip. So no chiseling, sanding or whining and complaining is necessary. Hold board to ramp, butt it against the lip, drill 2 holes and bolt together. Really couldn't be easier.

Inexpensive ramp solution that just works. The no slide pad under the large flange does not shift at all. I use it to get my riding mower and snow blower in and out of my shed and onto my pick up truck. I bought two kits to give me 16" of width. 8"x2"x8' is about as heavy as I would want to move around. Pick out a knot free board and these will carry the weight.

This is a well made product that is a much less expensive alternative to buying a premade ramp system. For those reviewers stating the planks do not fit into the channel of the top plate, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!! It specifically states that the planks are not to be inside of the channel but rather meet the small lip. This will make perfect sense when you see the product put together as it makes a very nice, smooth transition from the aluminum parts to the 2x8 boards I used for making these ramps. Having the boards inside the channel would leave a 3/16" lip, not good for rolling heaving items with hard tires/wheels, ie. moving dollys. Overall I am pleased with this product and would recommend it it to anyone looking to save a few dollars.

I'd been using a couple of planks as ramps for years, but adding this product made the transition at the top much better. Now, when I load a riding mower or snowblower into my pickup truck, the chance of the wheels kicking the ramp away from the dropped tailgate is about nile.

I gave these a 5 star because they deserve it. They are strong and also easy to install to the 2 x 8's I used for mine. I would recommend that the nuts be tightened up down the road a ways. As they are used the wood seems to weather so naturally the nuts can require retightening. I use mine mainly for riding my 42" craftsman lawn tractor up and down out of my trailer. I also tapered the lower end of my ramps so the bottom would be easier to start up. No biggy but it does help make a smoother start up:-)

although i bought this elsewhere, you might be interested in something i did. in order to keep the boards from sagging when you roll a heavy object on them the instructions recommend that you use oak planks. oak is expensive. pine is inexpensive but flexes too much. what i did was get 4 old scrap pine planks and made 2 of them 1 foot shorter than the other two. then i installed the ramparts on the 2 longer boards. then in order to solve the flexing problem i screwed the shorter boards onto the bottoms (underside) of the longer boards that the ramparts were attached to - use a lot of screws, especially in the middle where the flexing is greatest. this effectively gives you much thicker planks to use as ramps. unfortunately they are heavier too but the cost of oak planks is unbelievably high.

Works well. Note that with most boards you will buy in the USA, the slot in these will be about 1/8" too shallow for the board. I just measured in about 3/8" from the end, scored the wood about 1/8" deep, and popped out the sliver of excess wood with the utility knife.Total 2 minutes per board to make it a perfect fit and it doesn't reduce the strength any, so not a problem. If your boards fit ok as is, then press on. If yours are like mine, it will be obvious when you try to assemble the ramps. This kit makes a great set of ramps at about the cheapest price you can get it done with. I spent less than 20 minutes total to finish the job.

Great way to create an inexpensive set of light duty ramps. Instructions, however, could use some help, with a clear, straightforward pix of the aluminum brackets already installed on a 2 x 8. The easy assumption is that the 2 x 8 slips inside the bracket, which is wrong (and can't be done anyway). The short plate, which curves inward, is there only to help create the proper angle between the bracket and the 2 x 8, so that the bracket lays flat o on the vehicle or trailer.
