Married woman's aid to hiding stranger brings love.,
This review is from: Highland Flame (Paperback)
Aileena is captive in an arranged marriage to a crippled man. When she finds a wounded man hiding out on their place, she puts himin a hut and cares for him. Before long, Alex and Aileena have fallen in love. Aileena and Alex are fated to be lovers, but they must face and triumph over hardship and danger, and a secret as old as Aileena herself before they will be able to live happily ever after. Joyce Carlow's fourth "Highland" book offers an exciting love story, written with an obvious love of the Scottish highlands.

Love at first sight,
By Alexis Callaway "Allie" (Virginia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Highland Flame (Paperback)
This is the second book of the series set in 18th century Scotland.
Aileena Cameron, twin sister of Edana Mclean is married to Brian, her invalid husband who she loves very much, but has never known passion with. Aileena helps fugitive, Alex MacDougal who has escaped death. He was hit by a stray bullet when escaping the trap that was set up for him. Aileena starts to like Alex, Alex immedietly liked Aileena when he first met her. She gets tangled up in a web of intrigue as she becomes a pawn in a game of vegeance when her husband is murdered. Aileena has dreams of her "other", just like Edana did. I really liked Highland Fire with Edana and Bram. There was a lot of adventure and excitement! Highland Flame, I didnt like as much. I felt Aileena and Alex fell in love rather quickly. I didnt understand how it even developed. I can understand infactuation, but it wasnt just that. Highland Flame is a lot of reitering from Highland Fire. Not much changes in this book. It is much like Jude Deveraux's Twin of Ice/Twin of Fire novels.

Highland Flame 2.5 stars,
By LTR "Love to Read" (BC, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Highland Flame (Paperback)
Aileena and Alex fell in love way, way too quickly for my liking. I understand that exceptional circumstances can lead to this but it made the romance part of this book a little boring for me. Neither one of the characters had much personality at all either.

A wonderful series...,
By ThisThatNEverything "thisthatneverything" (Columbus, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE)
This review is from: Highland Flame (Paperback)
Highland Flame is book #2 in a 2 book series. Book #1 is Highland Fire. I absolutely loved both of these stories. Highland Flame is Aileena's story. I had certain hopes that the hero in the story would be somebody from the first book & when I read the description off of this book I was dissappointed because I didn't think it was who I was thinking but don't let the name "Alex MacDougal" fool you. Aileena truly deserved somebody like Alex after all that she had missed out on during her first marriage. I loved the reuninon at the end of the book between the sisters but I had wished they'd met earlier in the book. I wanted to read about the 2 of them together & I wished we could've saw when William was reunited with them. Oh well, it was still a wonderful book & I highly recommend this series. And, this being said from somebody that generally doesn't like Scottish romances.
