It is fast-paced and has a sweet romance that will warm your heart. Well written and full of imagination, this story is a must read for historical romance fans!"  Reviewed by Katie Cody

Satin Sheets Romance Review of "Highland Healer" by Willa Blair - Strong secondary characters, including a mentor, a maternal healer, and Toran's jealous former lover, Coira, and intense lines such as:'"What should I do with so beautiful, so valuable, a prize?" he murmured, almost to himself. His deep blue gaze ensnared Aileana as completely as his hands.' make this a rich, enjoyable read. Easily 4 satin pillows.  (Really liked it!  Will share with friends.)

It's the sixteenth century, a time of danger and turmoil. Against a canvas of conflict, Toran Lathan, laird of Clan Lathan, kidnaps a healer named Aileana Shaw, and everything changes for both of them. With no other options, Aileana's been serving a cruel master bent on conquering as much of the Scottish highlands as possible. Toran takes her to the Aerie, his clan's stronghold, where she must adjust to a completely new life. Although Aileana proves her worth to the clan as a healer, not everyone is prepared to welcome her with open arms. As she deals with jealousy and mistrust, she and Toran must come to terms with their growing attraction. Can the Laird of Clan Lathan pledge himself to a woman with her background, a woman who possesses a dangerous psychic power? And what will she do when old loyalties are pitted against new ones?

Highland Healer skillfully blends an exciting plot with the personal stories of Aileana and Toran, two very appealing characters. If you love an action-packed and sensual historical romance, you'll love this book.

Be prepared to sit for a while because you will not want to put down this book. I have always been a fan of Highland romances and this one ranks right up there among my favorites. Heroine, Aileana, is like no healer you have read before. Her unique and amazing powers put a refreshing spin on 16th century Scotland. She and her talents do not give the hero, Toran, a moment's peace, keeping the tension thick and the action moving. With a vibrant supporting cast and viciously evil villain, Blair keeps you entertained from page one and does not stop until The End.

I really enjoyed a total getaway from the 21st century to the Highlands, history, castles and good romance on a fall day. Characters are strong and independent with just the right amount of lust and longing. Who can beat that! Well written with equally developed characters, I just loved it. Just the right story at the right time. I am so ready to take another trip! More please!

I admit that I rarely read historical romance but Willa Blair's Highland Healer has changed that. The saga of Toran, Laird of Clan Lathan and Aileana Shaw, against the background of the unsettling period following the tragedy of Flodden Field, is riveting, intriguing and downright addicting. Aileana's ability as a healer and Toran's need for one on both a personal and a clan leader's basis, along with their growing love for one another, is the basis for a book that will hold you from beginning to end. The characters are engaging, the sensuality smoldering, the tension the kind that plays heck with one's manicure. Brava, Willa Blair!!

I am an avid reader, but romance was never my genre of choice. Highland Healer is my first experience and an excellent one! It is well written, easy to visualize and just plain fun. I look forward to the next book in the series and applaud Willa Blair's prose!

I'm one of those readers that enjoys a rich Highland based historical romance now and then. And Highland Healer delivered. With vivid characters, authentic prose, and a dash of magic - the romance between Aileanna and Toran was both sensual and sincere. Another plus, there are plenty of interesting secondary characters. We can hope this won't be the only adventure on the highlands for Willa Blair.

This story was OK. I didn't love it but neither did I hate it.

I am not 100% sure, but I believe this was a debut effort and it shows in the writing. There must have been some scenes that didn't make the final edit, but dialogue later doesn't reflect those edits. There were quite a few scenes that I read and said "whoa, when did that happen?" Being the compulsive freak that I am, I had to then scan back through the book to see where I missed these revelations, only to find that I hadn't missed them because they were not there. I blame the editor for that - not the author.

I also found the heroine Aileana to be incredibly stupid. Not just in a silly ,flighty young girl way but in a "OMG you are a moron" sort of way. I don't want to spoil anything so suffice it say if I had her "talent"( yes talent not gift), I would not have been a captive for 2 years. Just saying.....

The hero, Toran was a good hero. He was a bit wishy-washy at times, but I contribute most of that to the aforementioned editing issues.

All in all, I believe that Ms. Blair has a great deal of potential and I am willing to give her next book a try. I can't say that I would recommend this book, but I think with a better editor I could have.
