Kim Robertson’s name has become synonymous with the gentle but powerfully evocative Celtic harp, an instrument which for a thousand years held within its strings and wood the spiritual heartbeat and poetic breath of the Celtic race. Her ability to reach into its strings and pull from it these hidden treasures has made her one of the most popular harpists performing today. Kim’s discovery of the Celtic harp in the mid-’70s grew into a profound love for the instrument, setting her upon the path of exploration for which she is now widely known. A renowned performer and instructor, her work encompasses over 20 album projects, numerous volumes of harp arrangements, instructional videos, and an international itinerary of concerts and retreats.
Product Description
For her latest solo harp recording Kim has selected pieces mainly from the rich repertoire of Irish and Scottish airs and songs. Kim interprets both classic melodies—If I Were A Blackbird, Loch Lomond, and The Selkie—and some lesser-known gems —Sleep Soond I’da Moarnin’, Ghosts of Gight, and Dark Woman of the Mountains. The recording also features Kim’s arrangement of a section of Gustav Holst’s “The Music of Jupiter” from his inspired work The Planets. Additional selections include two compositions by Robert Burns, Ae Fond Kiss and Jamie, Come Try Me, and Robert Tannahill’s Are You Sleeping, Maggie? As on her previous recordings Kim combines superb artistry with a passionate sense of tradition, bringing a contemporary touch to a centuries-old instrument.

As a new harper, I wanted to listen to varying techniques, and that is exactly what I got with Highland Heart. I listen to it often, for technique, for relaxation, for pleasure. The celtic cover is great too!!
