Please listen to some AMAZING music instead of this stuff...,

This review is from: Highland Pipes And Drums: Bagpipe Music Of Scotland (Audio CD)
I picked this CD to write about because it's the #1 seller on Amazon for Bagpipes. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, people don't take this as what is going on in the Bagpipe & Drum world!!! This CD is ok for having many different Military Marches and that's about it! Please listen to some of these bands to really experience the BEST of what this awesome music can bring: Shotts and Dykehead Caledonian Pipeband, Victoria Police Pipe Band, Strathclyde Police Pipe Band, 78th Frasiers, Boghall and Bathgate, and SFU. Amazon actually sells some CD's from these bands. At least I know there is a Shotts CD. This in not a definitive list, there are many other GREAT bands. Lismor Recordings also has a series of the Actual Worlds best pipers and you can't get any better. Once you start listening to this stuff, you won't get anymore of these.. compellations.

This CD is the grand-daddy of piping CDs. I've many piping CDs, and this by far the best of them. The rendition of Amazing Grace is superb, the piobreachd lament is haunting, and the drumming track is so fast that it hurts my wrists to listen! A must buy for any enthusiast of the music of the Highland bagpipes.

Great and true, an excellent sampling,

This is traditional pipe music well presented. To the purist beware the few selections with pipe organ accompaniment which probably sounded wonderful in the cathedral but on cd sounds like two of the loudest musical instruments ever made doing a bit of polite one-ups-manship. The pipes are probably the hardest thing to record well and, for the audiophile looking to get blown away by acoustic realism, your search goes on. The performances are near flawless, and the selections are excellent examples of the pipe music canon.
