Book Description

Helen Adams has a knack for finding lost objects, but the Simon McAllister she finds isn’t what she expected. The missing California teen is now a grown man—a kilted, sword wielding, Highland warrior.

A mysterious Druid book and Helen’s sixth sense send her to Scotland in search of a missing boy. After being attacked by strange men dressed in medieval garb, a handsome, desirable hero answering to the boy’s name rescues her. No one is more surprised than she to find herself in sixteenth century Scotland. Unable to deny the reality of time travel, Helen discovers smoldering passion with a man destined to leave her.

Simon has lived his Druid life in two very different worlds, two vastly different times, and when Helen practically lands in his lap, he knows his life is about to change forever. There are enemies in California lying in wait for her, and an army in Scotland closing in on his family. Simon is the only person who can protect her. But when she learns his most guarded secret, will she still want him? Can Helen love a Highland Shifter?

5.0 out of 5 stars A Breathtaking Trip through the Fabric of Time! February 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
A war split by centuries. A family torn apart by circumstance. A love with no bounds.

And that's only the beginning.

HIGHLAND SHIFTER is a breathtaking trip through the fabric of time, each stitch more intriguing than the last. Through a simple stone pendant with incredible power to an ancient book wielding mysterious clues, Helen Adams is whisked to sixteenth century Scotland. Dropped into a strange world with her life on the line, she finds herself face to face with a young man missing from modern-day California--one who is now very much grown , handsome, and fierce. He's also her only chance for survival, but will he tear her world apart?

The story that follows is beautifully woven, every thread an intricate part of the larger tapestry. Mystery abounds in the form of ancient magic, Druid secrets, and a twist in time which throws Helen and Simon into a conflict with a threat that can--and does--change everything. No single place is safe. As the story progresses, the clues to Helen's past funnel into an ever-sharpening vortex--a collision of past and present that will leave readers reaching fervently for one page after the next. And in the end, when the path is clear, the choice with which Simon and Helen are left--and the decision that follows--is one readers will remember long after the last page has closed. Intense and adventuresome, with characters so true they're more a part of your life than they are the book in your hand, HIGHLAND SHIFTER is a story that gets to the very core of human emotion and grows there, deep in the heart.

And has there ever been a more exquisitely written romance? One stolen moment at a time, the reader feels the connection grow between Simon and Helen. It's as natural as breathing. Ms.

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and romantic! May 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Helen can find what she sets her heart to finding, in this case it's the teenage boy Simon McAllister, traveling all the way to Scotland is nothing compared to traveling back in time and finding Simon, in a kilt, sporting a giant sword, and yes in his thirties.

Traveling back to her time Simon tags along determined to find out why their paths crossed, being a druid he knows nothing happens by chance, and the attraction he feels for her doesn't quite allow him to leave her, especially when her shady boss breaks into her apartment. There is something going on and he won't let Helen get hurt, even if it means sticking around in the time of noise, cars and electricity just a little while longer.

I so enjoyed this! As the forth book in the series, this one is a stand alone, but still gives readers a glimpse into the lives of the couples that came before. Now I haven't read the previous three books, but now I want to! Bybee writes so well, Highland Shifter is full of action, romance and time-travel! Not just one way ticket to the past but a real entertaining back and forth. Bybee creates worlds in an effortless way and there's so much going on you don't get bored reading it, there will be no skipping pages here!

The romance was starting with a flirty slow burn and developed into deeper emotions, sexual tension and lust before we get to the fire works! Simon I loved, a man of two worlds born in the present and living in sixteenth century, he had best of both worlds, the modern view but with the dominant sixteenth century vibe. Simply delicious. I liked Helen too, she had a lot of package to bring to a relationship, being an orphan and stepping into Simon's 20+ family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can not wait for more! August 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have been following Catherine Bybee's world of Highlanders and Time Travel since its beginning with Binding Vows. After reading Redeeming Vows, I thought that was the end of the MacCoinnich stories. Thankfully, and surprisingly, I was wrong! I was thrilled to find Highland Shifter as one of my recommendations on Amazon and was kicking myself that I hadn't realized again, that Ms. Bybee had yet another addition to this series!

Highland Shifter is the story of Simon, son of Lizzy McAllister (now MacCoinnich ). The last time I remember seeing Simon, he was a young boy who was thrust into the past with his mother and who seemed to blend in very comfortably. He was accepted by his new stepfather with open arms and was just beginning to discover some very interesting magic of his own. Imagine my surprise when in this book, when we encounter not a young boy living in the highlands, but a full grown 30 year old Simon MacCoinnich. As first I had such a hard time seeing Simon as a grown man. Not because he didn't behave and act like a man, but because much like anyone who knows a child, you just can't believe when they're all grown up! And Simon is very much grown up. The modern day boy who grew up with Ipods and TV, is well adjusted to the rough and tumble of the highlands and embraces his life and family with all his heart. I was so happy to see the man Simon grew up to be!

I don't want to give any of this book away because it so very much worth reading yourself. The same magic from Binding Vows, Silent Vows and Redeeming Vows is present and flourishing. Ms.
