Book Description

Highland soldier Callum MacDonell battled lowland Covenanters at the service of the King. Now charged with hunting an assassin, his journey would lead not to justice, but to a murderer's passionate Covenanter sister, Mari McEwan.

Betrayed and abandoned by the man she loved, Mari faced judgment by a tribunal of her people demanding she name the father of her unborn child, or be exiled from everything she knows.

Only an enemy soldier could save her life--and her heart.

Book 1 in the Highland Soldiers series, Scottish historical romances set during the turbulent Covenanter times of 17th century Scotland.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Read! October 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I REALLY enjoyed Highland Soldiers: The Enemy. I was swept into the story from the first pages and I couldn't stop reading. I loved the way the author tied in how Mari and Callum first met with Callum's past. That the decisions they make together in the Highlands helps the story to come full circle. How Callum rescues her from the tribunal (who wouldn't want to be rescued like that). Every time I thought the story line would straighten out and relax for a bit there was another twist or disaster or deceit that would tear Callum and Mari apart. I loved all of the characters including the secondary ones. Callum's friends were all wonderful and I hope to see stories for Alex, Charlie, and poor Duncan. I wasn't bothered by the few editing or spelling errors that I saw. But I do like the other cover better....

I liked the way the characters realized the love they had was special and learned not to let outside influences destroy that. I am looking forward to reading the second book in this series. I highly recommend this story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read!!! July 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ok, I'm only in the middle of this book but noticed, since it didn't have any reviews, I'll review what I've read so far ... this is a really good book and I have no doubt it'll be great till the finish. It's about a 100 times better than many others I've read. The storyline flows, for it's time period it's logical, plus there is good character development. If there are editing problems I guess I didn't notice. I really do like this author and will make a point to save the name, I have every intention of reading everything this author writes.

3.0 out of 5 stars Highland Soldiers: The Enemy November 23, 2013
By Fluffy
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This story started off slowly, so slow in fact I almost put it down to quit reading. I hung in there and was glad I did. Not the best story I've read, but it did improve the further along I went. It kept developing a better storyline as I went along with more defined characters. Love scenes were rather non-descript, but you got the message. Worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very interesting March 13, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It was a very interesting because of how they were divided by their faith. If one was of a certain faith they died. Faith is Faith. The book was very good because how one person would love the other that they would give up everything they had for that one person. Most people feel the same. The history involved was full of thoughtfulness

5.0 out of 5 stars A compelling read July 6, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Great characterization to go along with a fast-moving story. I particularly like the way the author builds the sexual tension between the main characters while weaving in an excellent storyline.

No flow though the plot was ok. Very patchy with no flow to the story. It was like you were thrown into a different scene before it was finished, then thrown back again. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars couldn't keep my interest
The story was boring and predictable. There was no meat - just two characters falling in love without knowing anything about each other.
