5.0 out of 5 stars A good guide for fans
A book very worth owning for any true Highlander fan. By reading the several good interviews with cast and crew, you can enter into the Highlander world, discovering all the details about its production -- and in the process, also learn how a TV series is put together. It also brings to you dozens of stills and a complete episode guide, which is very useful for those...

This review is from: Highlander: The Complete Watcher's Guide (Paperback)
Though the behind-the-scenes reporting is in-depth and *extremely* informative in respect to special effects, costuming, sword- and fight-choreography, the discussions with the actors and the powers that be (particularly the latter) seem to focus on the last season, and the defense of an episode arc which a number of fans considered to be a violation of the spirit of the show.

Also, key actors from the earlier seasons *were* missing, most notably Alexandra Vandernoot (Tessa Noel) and Philip Akin (Charlie DeSalvo), both of whom played important roles. I would hope to see in the future a *more* complete guide than this one.

This is the most comprehensive collection of All Things Highlander I've ever found. It's filled with loads of inside information, behind-the-scenes pictures, and fascinating interviews with the people that brought this wonderful show to us and gave it life. It's great to look into the minds of the staff and actors and see what influence thay had on aspects of the show. Great read!

4.0 out of 5 stars The best insight on the world of Highlander, November 14, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Highlander: The Complete Watcher's Guide (Paperback)
I have had a chance to read this book. I have enjoyed it tremendously. It is a good insight on the world of Highlander. The pictures are great. The chronology of the episodes let you follow the story as you watch the shows. The characters are well explain. The interviews with the actors of the show are well done and presented, they let you know the person behind the character. All in all I have enjoyed a lot the book and would recommend it to somebody else.

Enjoy!

Filled with photos and wonderful behind the scenes anecdotes, Highlander: The Complete Watcher's Guide is the ultimate guide for fans of the series. In addition to chats with the cast, author Maureen Russell has included in-depth interviews with the writers, producers, directors, and special effects wizards that have helped to make Highlander one of television's most successful syndicated series. The Watcher's Guide also features synopses of all 119 episodes and a listing of some of the many online sources of Highlander information, including the official series homepage and fan club websites of several major cast members. 5.0 out of 5 stars "There Can Be Only One" ~ Ultimate Watchers Guide That Is, August 2, 2008
This review is from: Highlander: The Complete Watcher's Guide (Paperback)
Yes, I'm a big fan of the television series `Highlander' that graced the screen for a all too short six seasons. And as any real respectable fan should be able to say I own all six seasons on DVD.

Now the question to be asked is "What is a `Highlander' fan to do when he's not in front of the television set?" The answer is reading `Highlander': The Complete Watchers Guide' by Maureen Russell, that's what!

Whether you're looking for a short synopsis of each episode, cast interviews, technical details or any other information on the show you ever wondered about this is the book you need to own.

This book gives incredible insights as to how the series is filmed - but it would be worthwhile to read the episode summaries first to know what the behind-the-scenes people are referring to!
