This review is from: Highlander in Her Dreams (Signet Eclipse) (Paperback)
Native Philadelphian Kira Bedwell is touring Scotland and convinces her bus driver to let her make an unscheduled stop at Castle Wrath, then double back and pick her up. While exploring the ruins, she sees a mysterious Highlander who flirts, kisses her lightly, and then disappears. Some members of Kira's family have the gift of far seeing, the ability to see people and events from the distant past, so she's not very surprised by the otherworldly encounter. Kira is unable to get the sexy Highlander out of her mind and spends the next twelve years dreaming about him, and in those dreams, he does luscious things to her body. She finally has an opportunity to return to Scotland, where she'll be gathering research information about fairy mounds that are rumored to be time portals. As she gets closer to the ruins of Castle Wrath, she feels her Highlander calling to her from 1315 AD. She stumbles upon a time portal and finds herself face to face with Aidan MacDonald, the man she has already grown to love. For Aidan, Kira's return is a dream come true and he knows she is the woman who is meant to share the rest of his life. Neither can believe they're together at last. Their union is not without peril, however. Aidan battles a cousin who is plotting to kill him, and Kira's sudden appearance causes Aiden's men to think she's a witch. With both their lives in peril, they need to find a way to escape the danger that's closing in on them.
Allie Mackay's Highlander In Her Dreams is inspired by several well-loved locales in Scotland, as well as local lore. The love she has for the land and its people is quite evident, and she does a marvelous job of conveying that love to her readers. She writes in such a way that we are transported across time and space, and can almost smell the heather and feel the warmth of the peat fires in the hearth. This book is related to Ms. Mackay's previous release, Highlander In Her Bed, but it can easily be read as a stand-alone. This is a sweeping timeless passion full of delicious sensuality and a touch of wicked hot sex. Kira and Aidan are infinitely likeable, and Aidan could win a "Sweetest Hero Ever" award hands down. Highlander In Her Dreams is a riveting tale from start to finish. Very highly recommended. As a side note, Allie Mackay is a pen name for well-known and much loved author Sue-Ellen Welfonder. 4 1/2 Kisses, 1 Pepper ~Lindy Reviewer, TwoLips Reviews, LLC www.TwoLipsReviews.com

I have read a lot of Scotland novels, but Allie took the time and effort to describe a land that personally can wait to meet. Aidan is the dream man and Kira was the lucky one. Nice story. This is the first book I read from Allie Mackay and I am looking forward to read more.

Sexy fun escape,

I loved this book. What a fun fantasy escape! I read the previous book and loved it as well. I espcially liked the mix of modern female characters with the old fashioned archetype alpha male. Great fun and yes I agree with some reviewers that it is lightweight, but THAT"S THE POINT! It's supposed to be an entertaining escape. Loved it and will likely re-read it! Looking forward to the next book!

entreating time travel romance,
This review is from: Highlander in Her Dreams (Signet Eclipse) (Paperback)
Paranormal investigative journalist Kira Bedwell is on a tour of allegedly haunted Castle Wrath when she meets Aidan MacDonald, who claims he is a medieval era laird. She initially assumes the hunk is joking, but after that first encounter, she only sees him in her wet dreams; he shares those sexual nocturnal encounters when he sleeps.
Kira is investigating a paranormal incident in Scotland when the reporter becomes the story. Somehow she is sent back to Aidan's time. His clan is frightened by Kira's arrival as they assume she is a witch. Meanwhile as he tries to convince his people she is his soul mate, he also battles his evil cousin who has plans to abuse the clan for personal gain after killing Aidan. Kira knows who won that confrontation of blood so must change the near future even if it means giving up her beloved Highlander. Although similar in theme with the person from the future knowing and there wanting to change the specific history, Allie Mackay provides an entreating time travel romance because of just that scenario. From the moment his clan wants to burn the witch until the final cousinly battle, readers will be enchanted rooting that Kira, who believes her beloved will die in the upcoming altercation, finds a way to change the near future; her encouragement is based on her arrival being an aberration making anything possible. Cute, lightweight romance. I hope the author starts a new series though, this one is being stretched thin.

Sexy Time Travel,
By Viv (Atlanta, GA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Highlander in Her Dreams (Signet Eclipse) (Paperback)
Be prepared to not only step back in time with the heroine, Kira Bedwell, but also see Scotland as it truly is. While reading the book, I could almost smell the peat fires from the crofters' huts and see the mist rising from the Highlands. I was transported as much so as Kira! Now for the juicy details: Aidan MacDonald is a hero's hero. Everything a Medieval clan chieftain should be but with all the tenderness and compassion a woman would want. Kira and Aidan fall deeply in love and there is nothing in their way but a small matter of about seven hundred years. Oh, and a maniacal relative bent on murder. However, nothing will stand in the way when a love like theirs will last throughout the ages.
There are several plot twists that left me guessing and a bit of action to keep up the pace. The main focus is the love story which is poignantly written and brought a tear to my eye on more than one occasion. There are also cameos of past characters throughout. I have a soft spot for Alex and Hardwin (-wick). Fans of Allie MacKay aka Sue-Ellen Welfonder will enjoy the classic Scottish dialogue and banter which left me laughing out loud and of course the hot sensual tension and love scenes. For anyone who wants to spend a day, or a few hours, in Scotland, read this book and it will take you there. A definite keeper for me. From my BnN review.

The brief description on the back doesn't begin to tell the story within. The beginning of the book is a little odd, but it gets better fast. I really enjoyed this sequel and can't wait till the third book comes out.

It was well written and slightly entertaining but I felt (and prefer)that she could have added humor into the story.

Scotland has always appealed to Kira Bedwell, even more so after her parents paid for her to visit there shortly after she turned eighteen. A mysterious experience allows her to meet sexy Highlander, Aidan MacDonald, a man who continues to haunt her dreams twelve years later. Little does Kira realize it, but she has haunted Aidan ever since then as well. There's only one little problem... Aidan lives in the fourteenth century while Kira is a modern day woman. Can love transcend time?
HIGHLANDER IN HER DREAMS is the second book in a series of time travels featuring Highlanders. While I haven't read the first book, HIGHLANDER IN HER BED, it was easy to follow along with the story. We do visit with the main characters from the first book but HIGHLANDER IN HER DREAMS is easily read as a stand alone. Allie Mackay writes a fun loving time travel that will appeal to anyone looking for a lighthearted romance. The details Allie Mackay injected into the story help take the reader back in time to the fourteenth century as it is easy to get lost in the past with HIGHLANDER IN HER DREAMS. It is easy to see that Allie Mackay loves Scotland as her writing clearly demonstrates this. While HIGHLANDER IN HER DREAMS doesn't break any new ground in the genre, it is still a nice read to while away the hours. COURTESY OF CK2S KWIPS AND KRITIQUES |
