A historical erotica romance novel, "Sins of the Highlander" follows noble-born Aileen Munro and peasant-born Niall MacRae who rose in class standing by becoming a warrior. Due to their social classes, they were never meant to be together, but when Aileen became a widow, Niall who had loved her since he started training as a warrior and first laid eyes on her found himself wondering if ever the two of them has a future.

Full of tension with thoughts of unrequited love and lust kept the emotions high on the first part of the book. And when Aileen and Niall finally gave in to their attraction to each other, they then had to face the difference in their social classes.

A well-written novel which adhered to historical facts as much as possible. Aileen's experience as a wife approximates the situation many women faced in era that this story is set. The arranged marriages and the political alliances achieved through it did not take into consideration the situation that women found themselves in when they wed.

Character development was nicely achieved that the author even found to humanize the villain. The book would have been perfect except for the use of two very modern words that was just jarring. Other than that, this book is a true 5-star rating.

I read this is one sitting. It captures the Highland Fantasy well with a lovely hero who will fight to the end for the heroine. The villain is creepy and gets his just desserts, which is satisfying. A must read for highland fantasists.
Cathleen.

Overall, this was a very sweet love story. I did not like the beginning. I thought it started out with too much tension between the hero and the heroine and I just could not relate as the tension between them felt rushed. Soon after though, the story began getting much more realistic. I loved both the hero and the heroine. Niall is absoluteley fantastic, he is loyal and honorable. Besides being caring and a good lover he is a skilled warrior and knows how to fight the bad guys. Aileen is a young and childless widow, which is not a bad thing considering the brute she was married to. She has common sense, knows how to run a castle and she is not one of the stubborn to the end gals which I cannot stand. Niall and Aileen totally connect and I was very happy for the couple to finally be together.

But that is about it. I have been really into highlander romance novels and I was exremely excited to see this. Needless to say, that excitement was short lived. Right away its all about sex, to a point that it actually is not all that interesting. There is no actual decent time dilect, in fact many of the terms that were used were more from the 21st century then from something that you would expect in back then with an irish theme. So if you are just looking for a book to get excited down there about sure read it, but if you are actually looking some realistic values to it, well keep looking.

"Sins of the Highlander" is billed as an erotic romance, and it has certainly got both. Aileen and Niall were friends in childhood but had not seen each other in years. Aileen is recently widowed after the death of her abusive husband. When Niall returns home, the two get their first looks at each other as adults, and it's safe to say they both like what they see. Aileen helps Niall to prepare a bath, and the chemistry between the two leads to one of the sexiest non-sex scenes I've read in a long time.

Aileen will soon be betrothed to another man, and Niall is considered "beneath her." The sexual tension continues to build the two until they can no longer resist...

Some of the obstacles put in their paths seem insurmountable, but the author handles them with a deft, satisfying touch.

Pick up this novella for a short, sweet, and very sexy read.

While there is a lot of explicit sex, it is the most tedious sex I've ever encountered, between two of the most uninteresting characters I've ever encountered. Characters must be a problem for this writer as the two other major characters, while being flat as cardboard, manage, nevertheless, to have completely unbelievable changes of heart.

Eventually, I kept asking myself, rhetorically, "who cares?" and skimming or skipping large portions. There's really no reason to read this book, even if free.

Neil and Aileen's story is quite and great story. Aileen has been through hell already and her cousin is about to put her through more. you will champion both Aileen and Neil through the story and hope for a happy ending for them. So read on and see what happens!
