Book Description

Highlander Reborn begins in Scotland, many centuries ago, where a blacksmith fights for his life and his people. His life is forever changed when Amalia, one of the Nightkind, makes the choice to save his life. But first, he has to die...

After Nevin MacLachlan’s wife was killed by a vampire, he made it his mission to hunt them all down. But one late Highland night, in a battle he couldn’t win, one of the Nightkind ripped open his throat. With his blood draining onto the grass, the last thing Nevin sees isn’t a white light; it’s the dark of night closing in on him.

Amalia has been enamored with the blacksmith ever since he first held a stake to her heart. Watching him die was unacceptable. Will he ever forgive her for turning him into what he hates most?

Nevin has lived his life alone for a reason. When Amalia walks back into his life seven centuries later asking for help, he wants nothing more but to turn his back to her. But something about her still calls to him.

Some of the Nightkind in Amalia’s seethe have been killed. It’s up to her to find Nevin and ask for his help. But how can she show Nevin that she isn’t the monster he thinks she is?

4.0 out of 5 stars Great short!! November 10, 2012
Laura Hunsaker took two of the subjects she loves most, Highlanders, and PNR and melded them together in one terrific short story. I loved reading this story and seeing how Laura has grown into her voice, and honed her writing skills. I was surprised at how complete the story was for a shorty too.

I enjoyed both H/h in this story. Nevin is all sexy alpha male, and Amalia is a strong heroine, I like to read strong heroines, nothing whiney going on here. There were times I thought Amalia might be tougher, but Nevin prevailed. Great job Laura!!

Highly recommended to those looking for a quick satisfying read.

This really is a fantastic short story! It is well written, has good, well-developed characters and is extremely hard to put down once you start.

I have honestly been waiting for more stories from this author, and was SO excited to read about Nevin and Amalia. Although, I have to admit to wanting to bonk Nevin in the head on more than one occassion for being such a stubborn Highlander. Amalia has WAY more patience than I would have. The author has a real penchant for writing about swoon-worthy, super-hunky, brooding Highlanders. (Check out Highland Destiny sometime!) And Nevin is a Nightkind (aka vampire) to boot. (sigh!) Love how his brogue came out more and more too.

Overall, a really wonderful tale. It does leave one wanting to know more. My fingers are crossed that there will a sequel for Nevin and Amalia. I can't wait to see how they decide to take down King Vladimir. Also wouldn't mind hearing more about Sebastian.

4.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING SHORT STORY! January 30, 2013
By Alicia
This book was AWESOME! I LOVED IT!! The only thing I did not like about this book was it was too short! I would of loved to see this into a full novel. I felt that the AMAZING author could of added more pages to the story and made it even better then it was. It really was great and kept my attention through-out the book! And DEFINITELY had me want more!!

So as the Synopsis said this book start of in the 1300 hundreds when and amazingly sexy blacksmith wife's killed by a vampire. So he won't rest until everyone of the bloodsuckers are hanging on his wall, if the don't turn to ash!

But then the unthinkable happens he is ambushed into battle and almost beheaded. So nothing left to do but die and meet his wife in the after life. Or so he thought!

He is turned into the very same thing he once despised and hunted. A Vampire!

So that's where to book gets fun!

He wasn't turn by just any vampire he was turned by the Queen herself. An Beautiful Amalia wants him like she's never wanted anyone in her VERY long existence. BUT there's one problem! He wants nothing to do with the monster that turned him into a monster.

So Amalia does the only thing she can do, Give him space. That is until seven centuries pass and someone is now hunting the Queen. So Queen Amalia turns to him for his help with finding the bastard that's hunting her. But it won't be easy to get him to cooperate, just like it wasn't easy 700 years ago.

This book was VERY detailed with some nice love scene that was really just a plus for this series. I really, really enjoyed this book and just wished it was longer. I give mad props to this author for this book and will definitely be checking out more of her books in the future.

I give this book 4 stars and if it would of been longer would of gave it and EASY 5 stars!(

3.0 out of 5 stars Clever short story October 28, 2012
A cleverly penned short story that features Nevin, a blacksmith/ vampire hunter turned vampire by the Queen, Amalia. Re-encountering each other after 700 years, Amalia's fascination with Nevin, combined with his loathing of what she made him wars with his need to possess her.

Only 49 pages, this book could serve as a nice introduction to a longer story with characters that are more fully developed. There really wasn't enough detail provided to character backstory: which is, I believe, entirely a restriction of story length. There are some fairly hot sex scenes, and the ending revelation was no surprise to anyone BUT Nevin: but this is a good prelude to a full length novel that carries the Nevin and Amalia story forward.

I received an eBook copy from author for purpose of honest review for Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great quickie by Laura Hunsaker October 16, 2012
Highlander Reborn is Laura Hunsaker's first paranormal romance release. And she definitely rocked it like a pro.

I was one of the lucky ones who read this story before the editing process, and even then it drew me in and made me want more.

Although Highlander Reborn doesn't have a great deal of Highlander-ish content due to the story starting in 1304 then quickly fast-tracking to the present. Nevil still falls back on his sexy Highlander brogue in highly emotional moments. Oh. So. Yummy. So there isn't a lot of kilt wearing, but there is definitely a lot of swooning when he talks.

In such a short story you gain an emotional attachment to Nevil and Amalia. Nevil has the broody, alpha-male, protective hero down pat and Amalia is a strong heroine that takes no crap.

The ending also gave me something to look forward to. I'm not sure if L.H. plans on continuing this series, but it sure sounds like it from the way the story ended *squee*

If you haven't read anything by the awesomely talented Laura Hunsaker, then this is a great way to get a taste of what you've been missing.
