Once Again!,
By
This review is from: A Highlander's Homecoming (Daughters of the Glen, Book 6) (Mass Market Paperback)
A Highlander's Homecoming is a paranormal romance that begins with Robert MacQuarrie shifting back in time with his new charge, Leah Noble, to protect her from the Nuadian Fae, but there's just one problem. Robert is not supposed to be alive during this period. He suffered a mortal wound in a battle and his Fae friends send him into the future to seek the medical treatment that can prevent his death.
Robert takes the risk to fulfill a promise to a dying friend, Thomas MacGahan, to take care of his only daughter, Isabella MacGahan. Thomas warns him that she is different like her mother but Robert thought he meant eccentric. If you call a woman with the ability to control the weather based on her emotions eccentric. Once again, the Fae magic has tricked him into finding an attraction to another red head and half Fae. Robert has to convince Isabella to move into his MacQuarrie Keep before he succumbs to his wounds, but Isabella has no intention of falling for him. She has lived in a small cottage with her animals away from her grandfather's castle and has disguised herself as a mad hermit. She believes her powers keep her from becoming involved with any man and only wants to live alone. Her grandfather's second in command wants control of MacGahan land and will stop at nothing to get it. He plots to kill both Robert and Isabella. Time is running out and Robert has a devil of time convincing the redhead Fae woman to trust him and come with him to safety. Another page-turner by Melissa Mayhue! This novel contains intrigue, mystery and magic. Her stories weave the human and Fae world into a story where no one is what they seem. The fast pace captures your imagination, leaving you lusting for more. The hero and the heroine must discard old prejudices in order to trust each other and defeat the enemies that are closing around them.

enchanting romantic fantasy,
This review is from: A Highlander's Homecoming (Daughters of the Glen, Book 6) (Mass Market Paperback)
In 1272 Scotland heroic Robert MacQuarrie is dying from battle wounds. However, because of his valiantly risking his life to keep others safe, Faerie propel him into the present day where modern medicine saves his life. His only regret over the next decade living in the twenty-first century was his inability to keep young Isabella MacGahan safe as he had pledged to her dying father Thomas who saved his life; death had prevented him from fulfilling his oath.
The fey asks for a volunteer to return to the thirteenth century so Robbie jumps at the chance hoping he can still achieve his vow. However, he ends up 1292 where he meets a now adult Isabella who has faerie powers that has left her a pariah and with no understanding of what she possesses. When he explains to her who he is, she scoffs at his contention. However, as he tries to keep her safe from a hostile clan dispute, his wounds from two decades earlier leaving him dying. Only Isabella combining her fey power with her love can save his life. The latest Daughters of the Glen romantic fantasy (see A Highlander's Destiny and Soul of the Highlander) is an enchanting entry filled with a terrific time paradox twist as the hero can fulfill his pledge except the girl he is to protect is now a beautiful woman by the time he has come back to her. The lead couple makes the tale with their respective emotional problems as he feels he is betraying his friend by falling in love with Thomas' daughter and she believes she is unworthy of love due to her paranormal proclivity. A Highlander's Homecoming is another master mage Melissa Mayhue's marvelous medieval romance. Harriet Klausner

Without going into what you can already read for yourself above, this is truely a wonderful highland love story.
Both characters, Robbie & Isa, are strong and believable and secondary ones add to the plot. Don't let this one pass you by. Two thumbs up :0]

I really liked Robert's story.
We are treated to the gentler side of this knight that has been twined in Faerie Magic since Book 1. As he said in the last book "the sooner you accept it the sooner you can move on." I liked his Isabella ( yes another fiery redhead) Their attraction is well built and if not as good as Conner and Cate-it is better than Jesse and Sarah----plus--we even get to see a bit more of Leah's personality-along with the depths of her Faerie Gift. Getting to know the McAllister/McKiernan's through the last 5 books (especially Roselyn) I kinda missed any 13th century interaction with them in this book. I eagerly await Colin and Drew's stories-I do hope she still has plans to see to their happiness. It seems like there is soooo much more in store for us with these Highlanders and I hate leaving them hanging out there............. (spoiler***)I look forward to more development of Jamie MacQuarrie as well as the other children in the 21st century

Thrilled to have found Melissa Mayhue and the Daughters of the Glen series!,
This review is from: A Highlander's Homecoming (Daughters of the Glen, Book 6) (Mass Market Paperback)
LOVE, LOVE, LOVED the story of Robert "Robbie" MacQuarrie and his Isabella "Isa" MacGahan!!
The sixth book in the the Daughters of the Glen series was one of my favorite. I laughed, cried, hoped and dreamed right along with Robbie and Isa's story. I look forward to future books of this series as the members of former Scottish Clans (700 years in the past)are forming a new clan of their own combining the MaQuarrie, Coryell, MacAlister, McCullough, Servans and MacKiernan together with Pol as Laird and Dallyn his General. As the series progresses the children of the Soulmates are growing older and will come into their own fae magic. the exception being sweet Rosie who received her magic at birth, and I feel will become the one of the strongest of the Fae. This series is endless in possible story lines. Thrilled to have found Melissa Mayhue and the Daughters of the Glen series.

The Magical Adventure and Romance Just Gets Better and Better,
By Peaches (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Highlander's Homecoming (Daughters of the Glen, Book 6) (Mass Market Paperback)
This sixth book in the series is my absolute favorite. The coming together of two lost souls is a very well written story and a wonderful continuation of the storyline.
In this insatllment, the story returns to thirteenth century Scotland. In present time, Leah, the teenaged sister of the heroine from the previous book, A Highlander's Destiny, is being pursued by the evil Nuadian Fae and the consensus is to hide her in 1292 Scotland. The hero, Robbie MacQuarrie, sees this as his chance to go back in time and finally fulfill his vow to a dying friend to look after the man's little girl. But when Robbie and Leah arrive back in the thirteenth century, twenty years have passed since Robbie left and his friend's little girl is now a grown woman. Robert temporarily leaves young Leah in the care of his parents then sets out to find Isabella. I loved the hero, Robert MacQuarrie. Mayhue created an outstanding character in Robbie, he's tough, has very little angst, which is a refreshing change of pace from the tortured hero, and at his core, a wonderful man of integrity. In the heroine, I found Isabella MacGahan to be a very feisty and stubborn but immensely likeable personality and a perfect fit for the hero. However, it was the young boy, little Jamie, who just stole my heart. I found this entire Daughters' of the Glen series to be simply amazing and I can't wait for the Fae prince Pol to be reconciled with the soul of his beloved Rose. I look eagerly forward to the next installment in this wonderful series.
