Great Stuff from Down Unda,
This review is from: Highlight From the Main Event (Audio CD)
Recorded live at Melbourne Park, Australia! This CD went to #3 in the ARIA charts in its first week, and three weeks later on December 14th 1998, it went to #1! I was a tad sceptical when promoters announced that our Livvy was teaming up with Farnsy and Mr Warlow for a concert tour. I should have known better. Sure, this three of a kind played to full houses, but their stage delivery was dynamic. I cannot remember being more entertained by a show than one that 22,000 fans saw at Newcastle Ent. Centre. Although carefully choreographed, the concert was fun, fresh and funny. While this album captures touching solo tidbits (AW's "This Is The Moment", ON-J's "Hopelessly Devoted To You" and JF's "Every Time You Cry"), the live duets and trio medleys are downright delectable. Livvy and Warlow, who both overcame cancer, take listeners through their recovery on "The Long & Winding Road". Livvy and Farnham ... on his knees during her Grease transformer tune "You're The One That I Want". Three-way highlights include "You've Lost That Loving Feeling", "Let Me Be There", "Phantom Of The Opera" and "A Little Bit More Love." ...

I got this CD along with the DVD, having unfortunately missed the actual thing in 1998. Still, I mostly just got it because of Warlow and Farnham. I think Olivia wrecks the show a bit - her voice isn't the same as it used to be. Farnham pulls off his songs flawlessly [I liked Granada!], but my favourite would have to be Anthony Warlow. He took the biggest plunge by leaving behind much of his usual opera/show tunes behind to sing big name pop and big band numbers in duets. Although he does sing This is the Moment [now his signature song].

I bought this album because I am a huge Anthony Warlow fan. While the album by-and-large is very good, if you are really only purchasing it for ONE of the three artists, it might not be the best choice-- I was disappointed to find songs I believed to be Warlow's divided strangely into duets and trios.
