3.0 out of 5 stars Mixed Feelings
I bought this album because I am a huge Anthony Warlow fan. While the album by-and-large is very good, if you are really only purchasing it for ONE of the three artists, it might not be the best choice-- I was disappointed to find songs I believed to be Warlow's divided strangely into duets and trios.

I was a tad sceptical when promoters announced that our Livvy was teaming up with Farnsy and Mr Warlow for a concert tour. I should have known better. Sure, this three of a kind played to full houses, but their stage delivery was dynamic. I cannot remember being more entertained by a show than one that 22,000 fans saw at Newcastle Ent. Centre. Although carefully choreographed, the concert was fun, fresh and funny. While this album captures touching solo tidbits (AW's "This Is The Moment", ON-J's "Hopelessly Devoted To You" and JF's "Every Time You Cry"), the live duets and trio medleys are downright delectable. Livvy and Warlow, who both overcame cancer, take listeners through their recovery on "The Long & Winding Road". Livvy and Farnham ... on his knees during her Grease transformer tune "You're The One That I Want". Three-way highlights include "You've Lost That Loving Feeling", "Let Me Be There", "Phantom Of The Opera" and "A Little Bit More Love."

I got this CD along with the DVD, having unfortunately missed the actual thing in 1998. Still, I mostly just got it because of Warlow and Farnham. I think Olivia wrecks the show a bit - her voice isn't the same as it used to be. Farnham pulls off his songs flawlessly [I liked Granada!], but my favourite would have to be Anthony Warlow. He took the biggest plunge by leaving behind much of his usual opera/show tunes behind to sing big name pop and big band numbers in duets. Although he does sing This is the Moment [now his signature song].

4.0 out of 5 stars A TALENTED TRIO, November 26, 2011
This review is from: Highlight From the Main Event (Audio CD)
THE MAIN EVENT united three of Australia's biggest stars together in a 1997 concert, The result was a hugely successful event, with pop, rock and stage represented by the superstar trio.
All get their solos but it's the pairings that make this memorable.
The opening medley features one of Farnham's biggest and best hits--the exuberant AGE OF REASON combined with Liv's seductive A LITTLE MORE LOVE and Warlow's PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.
Farnham and Liv's pairing on PLEASE DON'T ASK ME and YOU'RE THE ONE THAT I WANT is exceptional. Warlow and Liv, both cancer survivors, perform a touching medley highlighted by LONG AND WINDING ROAD and I HONESTLY LOVE YOU.
The guys have fun with the humorous spoof of GRANADA, obviously having a grand old time. The final medley climaxes with John's mammoth hit YOU'RE THE VOICE.
This is a well-recorded live effort, an appropriate salute to down under's popular stars.

Anthony Warlow has a great voice, I only wish that he sang more on the CD, but the sound quality was good.

I love this CD. It is a must have for all Olivia Newton-John fans. Don't put it off any longer. I had this cd on my back-burner of my "to buy List", I am glad I finally purchased it. Olivia sounds great, the sound quality of the cd is very good as well, I felt like I was at the show.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Main Event : "Bloody good show", April 28, 2008
This review is from: Highlight From the Main Event (Audio CD)
First off I have to say this was my first time Amazon Marketplace and the service in general was excellent -especially since the item itself was actually Australian - and I was shocked to recieve it in the week! So the service is great!

As for the cd itself - its a must have for all you Anthony warlow fans out there ( specifically the main reason I bought it :P) and it doesn't fail to please. The vocals are amazing and there's some great chemistry between the three singers onstage which is reminiscint of the style they we going for which was a sort of Frank Sinatra, Liza Minelli, Sammie Davis Jnr type thing - and in that respect it doesn't fail to please! I'd definitely like to see the DVD version of this up here cause it really great show!

Not the first time I've visited the site and found some rare treasures like this one! Would reccommend this site and the product my numerous friends in university! :D

3.0 out of 5 stars Warlow and OLN were great... Farnham - ehhh, April 28, 2002

Warlow's "This is the Moment" is the main reason to buy this CD. The rest of the album is good to mediocre, but "This is the Moment" is incredible. I would save your money on this CD and use it for another CD of Warlow by himself. If Warlow sang on Broadway he would corner the Tony for best actor every time he was up!

2.0 out of 5 stars Great Dissappointment, November 25, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Highlight From the Main Event (Audio CD)
This was a huge dissappointment for me. They do not even sing the complete songs on many of them. Olivia sounds alright, but the male performers ruin it. I think that the worse one is Anthony Warlow. Many of the songs do not sound good at all, and the background music is horrible. When the guys do a solo or sing along with Olivia, at times it is painful. Especially on "Summer Nights," and "Let Me Be There." This is really awful, even concidering that it is a live performance. It does have some great moments, though.
