5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Mickelson fans, December 27, 2010

This review is from: Highlights of the 2004 Master Tournament (DVD)
I'd been a Mickelson fan for years. Phil is a generous, smart, and funny guy who also happens to be one of the best golf pros in the history of the game. As I type this, he has the 11th most PGA victories in history, and with one more he will tie Tom Watson and Gene Sarazen for 10th. Yet for a long time he was saddled that that "Best Ever to Never Win a Major" tag.

Phil finally broke through in the 2004 Masters, in truly heroic fashion, by birdieing the last four holes of the tournament to win by one stroke. The tournament overall was one of the more exciting, with a host of name players in the hunt right up to the end. Ernie Els was on the practice tee hoping for a playoff, until he heard the roar from Phil's birdie putt on 18 and dropped his head. The rest of the top 10 was a Who's Who of stars: KJ Choi, Sergio Garcia, Berhard Langer, Vijay Singh, Davis Love III, Fred Couples, Nick Price, Paul Casey, Chris DiMarco.

If you are a Tiger fan, this may not be the year for you to buy. Tiger shot 75 in the first and 3rd rounds, finished 22nd, and was never in contention.

This DVD does a nice job of documenting the tournament, including coverage broadcast live by CBS with voice-over summaries to remind you what was happening off camera. Video quality is good, especially compared to what you see on TV from old tapes from the 60s and 70s.

I put this tournament right up there with 1975 and 1986 as my favorites for exciting Masters finishes (where a guy I was rooting for won LOL).
