5.0 out of 5 stars Good Stuff!
I'm very impressed. At first I was bummed because Grandma sent this and didn't listen to me. I wanted Ladybug for my 3 year old. I think this one has more content. We looked at a ladybug once and we keep coming back to the High Five because there is so much stuff to do in it. There's 34 pages in the March 2007 issue.

1.0 out of 5 stars Love the magazine, poor customer service through Magazine Express
I can't recommend this magazine enough, it's such a fun and educational product. Our 3-year-old looks forward to it every month (and we enjoy reading it with her!). It can also be a 'read along' book when you access the free audio version on the Highlights website.

We have had nothing but problems with the vendor, Magazine Express, though. It was bought...

Let's Read Aloud together! 7 poems/stories of a variety of topics and art styles
Let's Puzzle it Out! 5 puzzles- a few are very easy so she feels successful but there are couple more challenging ones (but not too)
Let's Make Something! 3 crafts/recipes
Let's Move! 2 different activities

Very happy and looking forward to next month's magazine!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent educational tool that is fun, informative & stimulating!, August 29, 2007
This review is from: Highlights High Five (Magazine)
I came across this wonderful magazine in the periodicals section of my local grocery store and was immediately taken by it...it says on the cover that it is "advertising-free" and that prompted me to take a look inside.

The magazine has an interesting & creative layout. The illustrations are bold, bright & beautiful, and the activities are age appropriate [target age group is 2-6 yrs]. My two and a half year old loves this magazine...I read the stories to her, and we do the activities like crafts & coloring together. An added bonus is that the pages are sturdier than your average magazine and will keep relatively well. The issues are all so beautiful that I will keep them for a few years, to be read and reread until my daughter outgrows them. And it truly is ad-free...a value buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great magazine for 5-6 year olds!!!, March 13, 2008
This review is from: Highlights High Five (Magazine)
I recently bought this magazine subscription for my 5ry old and I'm so glad I did! Just as with Highlights (for slightly older kids) this holds true to the simple values and gentle lessons of kindness, friendship...and learning, but on a little kid's level. My son just received his first two issues and they have yet to be removed from the living room...he looks at them daily...sometimes hourly!!! There are activities, stories (beginning phonics) and hidden pictures that keep him busy (and his brain working) for at least an hour at a time! This subscription gives any child the 'highlight' of going to the mailbox for HIS mail and he loves it. This subscription would make a great gift too! Well worth the money- I'll get it it again next year!

This is a wonderful magazine. My son (age 4) loves the activities, which are age appropriate. He loves to lay down for a rest and look through the magazine. I love the variety of activities/reading in High Five and that the stories promote interest in reading. It is fun and educational. My only regret is that it is NOT weekly!

5.0 out of 5 stars My three year old loves it, July 15, 2008

I got High Five for my three-year-old daughter at a huge discount. I will renew even if that opportunity doesn't present itself when it's time. There are poems, songs, action games, find-the-picture, and each magazine has a game to play outside the magazine as well. At Easter time, for example, it had a poem about colored eggs, and the game to cut out was a color matching game with the different colors of eggs. My daughter really loves this magazine. I love the fact that it encourages dialogue about relationships inside and outside the family. It gives my daughter a chance to develop fine motor skills and even gross motor skills - each issue also has a song that has "movements" to it: making a fun way for my daughter to use her hands and get some exercise. There is always a recipe that we can try together, and most of them have been a big hit. We learned how to make puppets, play dough, and other fun crafts that have been the highlight of our reading time. I am impressed by the preschool version of Highlights. If it hadn't been for the reputation of Highlights as a great kids magazine, I would not have looked twice at High Five. But, rest assured, it's a great way to be involved with your pre-schooler and will teach your child important skills for school and life in general.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great kids' magazine, February 14, 2008
This review is from: Highlights High Five (Magazine)
I enjoyed "Highlights" as a child and always wished I could receive it at home; so when I saw "High Five" for younger children, I knew I wanted to try it for my 3 year old grandson. The first 2 issues have been a big hit. It is appropriate to his age with room to grow. He loves the "That's Silly" and "Hidden Objects" pages. He liked the puzzle cut-out that could also be played as a game. I highly recommend this magazine. It is something an adult and child can do together.

5.0 out of 5 stars RIght on, SPEEDY delivery!!!!, November 9, 2010
This review is from: Highlights High Five (Magazine)
Before i start, let me strongly suggest that you order your Highlights from Highlights.com instead of amazon. I read many reviews here that complained about lengthy delivery time, with one person suggesting going to Highlights.com. I did just that. In August, to make sure i get the first issue for Christams and it came in September!!! VERYY unexpected and pleasant surprise after reading those unfavorable reviews.

I subscribed to High Five Highlights (2-6yrs old) and am very happy with the content: 36 pages!! No adds, short stories to encourage reading and build language skills, hidden pictures puzzles, rhymes, counting activities, a craft idea in each issue, a simple recipe (apple granola crumb dessert, mashed cauliflower etc). Last page is removable to be cut into cards for a game or for crafts. The content is diverse to keep a young mind interested, yet relevant (October issue has stories about fall, leaves, pumpkins, apples etc). I really like the artistic side of this magazine which has nice colorful "old school" characters vs crazily twisted creatures embraced by a well known TV network for kids.

My daughter (3yrs old in 4 months) loves this magazine! Very pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars 1st issue just received!, August 7, 2008
This review is from: Highlights High Five (Magazine)
I ordered this subscription for my just-turned 2-year old. She is rather advanced for her age, and absolutely loved the first issue, which we just received this week. Some of the activities are just much more than she knows, but I intended for this to be a teaching tool. I'm very pleased with it so far, and intend to keep the issues around for quite a while to use as she gets older and learns more. The pictures are beautiful, with not too much happening on each page, but just enough to keep her interest. She loves the search and find games, and the counting games are great for beginners. I like that each activity includes almost all ages intended as the target audience, without excluding the younger or the older ages. It's wonderful! Thanks a million!

5.0 out of 5 stars 6 yr old LOVES it, September 30, 2007
This review is from: Highlights High Five (Magazine)
My 6yr old loves this magazine more than I did when I was a kid. This mag uses fun activities to exercise the mind. If you are looking for a product that both you and your child can spend quality time together on, this is one such product.
