Before I buy anything, I do my homework, review and read all I can, weigh pros and cons of different brands/product, and order the one which fits my needs the best. Usually they live up to expectations but rarely over-exceed them and delight me.

This is one of those rare products that accomplishes the latter. So much so, I am giddy about having it and am telling everyone I know about it. Yep. It's that good.

For reference, in November 2008 I purchased a Timolino 20oz @tanium II which I was happy with knowing it had two faults; the top sipper mechanism was not leak-proof and, although advertised as 20oz it really only held about 17-18oz with the lid on. I lost that Mug in December ... likely a victim of being set on the car roof or left in a meeting room. The drawbacks were more significant to me than I thought they would be so I decided to not order another. Instead, I landed on the moJOEmo mug as it seemed to address the two flaws of the Timolino 20oz @tanium II.

And it does.

It is indeed leak proof. You may get a couple of drops from the remnants withing the top, but it does not leak the coffee at ALL! It also holds the >20oz I was hoping for. And it does so while keeping it HOT HOT HOT. I use the Krups Moka Brew which makes very hot coffee. When I put it into my moJOEmo, coffee remains only "sippable" two hours later! I end up keeping the top in the "open" position just to make it drinkable in the first 15mins. Amazing! It actually keeps it hotter than my Stanley Thermos!

Lastly, the craftsmanship and thoughtfulness is simply outstanding. You will appreciate all the little "simple" things; the easy, one handed open/close top; the right-size, sturdy handle; the large rubber base combined with a bottom heavy design that keeps the mug in place w/o moving or tipping; and the screw on cover for the top perfectly designed so it "closes" the top as you put it on in case you forgot ... although I am still wondering why you would ever need to put this cover on (maybe inside a purse or gym bag so something doesn't accidentally "push" the moJOEmo button?).

If you are a coffee drinker and need something on-the-go that holds more than those 14oz drink-holder mugs, don't hesitate. This is the perfect mug. My hats off to my moJOEmo mug and Highwave!

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST MUG EVER!, December 2, 2008
This review is from: Highwave MoJOEmo (Kitchen)
This mug is a must for students. For all of the women out there, I put it in my one designer bag without worries--that's reliable.
I am a coffee addict and use this mug everyday. I can throw it in my bag to not worry about holding it or having coffee spill on my papers. The main lid has two seals and there is a cap over the drinking valve, which pops up by pushing the center button, to keep in any left over drops. My coffee stays hot all day, even with the lid open. I recommend leaving the lid in the open position while screwing it, because the pressure from the steam will require the lid to be twisted off to open. Also, if you plan on drinking your hot beverage right away you should let it cool down or you will burn your lip. The interior has not acquired any stains and I have left coffee in the mug over the weekend. I really like the short-fat shape of the mug for driving, as I drive a standard and many other cups spill or tip over. The bottom of the mug has a sturdy rubber anti-slip ring allowing my moJOEmo mug to sit on the dash board while shift gears! Even if it does tip over, it won't spill.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality control issues?, August 30, 2009

I own two of these mugs. The first mug is FANTASTIC. It does everything it's supposed to and keeps my coffee hot all morning. Hot coffee stays hot, and the outside of the mug stays cool to the touch. The mug formed a dent in the bottom after I dropped it, but it still keeps my drinks super-hot.

The second mug I ordered looks identical but seems defective. When I pour my coffee, the mug is hot to the touch on the outside. I did a head to head comparison of my two mugs, and there is a clear difference between the two. Drinks in my newer mug cool off faster. I can only conclude that my newer mug has a manufacturing defect (maybe the vacuum seal leaked out or there is some contact between the inside and outside which allows conduction of heat to the outside of the mug).

Anyway, I'm thrilled with my first mug, and I'm not so thrilled with my second mug. I contacted highwave about the problem, but they did not give me any useful response.

_______

Addendum: I finally got this issue resolved. Highwave sent me a brand new mug! Kudos to this company that stands behind their product. Now I would give it 5 stars. Anyway, I lost my mug at work, so time to order another one!

Just received this mug. I liked the way it looked at first glance - appears sturdy and well built. However, what the product info and reviews don't tell you is the top consists of a maze of hard to wash plastic crevasses and angles that will defy cleaning. The instructions DO NOT say anything about this mug being dishwasher safe. The top will become a bacteria breeding ground over time - especially if you like milk or cream in your coffee.

The top has a push button mechanism (you can see it in the picture). One push opens the top and then another push seals it. This top comes apart into 3 separate pieces - supposedly for "easy cleaning" per the instructions. Two of the parts are small enough as to be a likely problem if you intend to put them into a dishwasher. Unless you willing to waste a handfull of minutes each day cleaning the top's crooks and crannies with tiny little brushes.

I subjectively note that the push button top doesn't come apart and go back together intuitively. Also, my impression was that the mechanism was flimsy - I did not get the feeling it will last long. Wait for a better design to come along - especially at this price. Expected more after paying $32.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great mug! Read on....., November 20, 2010

OK. I got my new mug Wednesday, (11/17/2010) it is very well thought out as far as the functionality. One finger on the push button opens and closes the valve and you can drink from 360 degrees around the top. If I brew a mug of green tea (180 degrees) at 6 a.m. to put in my backpack to take to work, the last sip at 10:30 or so is still hot. There is an extra lid that screws on top, totally leak free. The top and all of the mechanisms for opening and closing (it works kind of like a click ball point pen) comes completely apart for cleaning as well as the o-ring seals which have grooves that could get nasty if not cleaned regularly. I take it completely apart and toss it in the dish water to soak daily. The only flaw is that the top separated (came apart at a seam) yesterday as I was reassembling it. It still worked and was leak free when closed but the seam where it came apart allowed some of the liquid left in the top after a sip leak out between the top and the handle. I glued it back together last night and it works fine this morning. I sent an email to the manufacturer yesterday but haven't heard back from them. I will update.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Mug, March 9, 2010

This review is from: Highwave MoJOEmo (Kitchen)
For a number of years I used the Nissan Ultimate Desktop mug and it worked well but for some reason on occasion it would drip from the cover seal area. Try as I could I couldn't figure out why. So I bought this mug to sit on my desk. I drink 2 or 3 full mugs of tea a day using this mug. I love the wide base which cannot be easily tipped over. I love having my tea very hot even after several hours sitting with it open and ready to sip.
I also love that you can drink from any side of the rim. This is great as I switch hands that hold it.

You open the mug by pushing in the white button at top center and close it by pushing the ring around the button. Very simple. I usually leave it open as it sits on my desk and very little heat escapes unlike a more conventional mug opening.

I drink tea and over time it leaves a residue in the cover mechanism. It is difficult to describe but once you figure how to open it it can be cleaned but not so easily. A downside to the clever closing system. While I leave it open most of the time I have tested it out and when closed it does not leak when turned upside down.

Sometimes I use it for ice water. The smaller opening makes it harder to fill with ice cubes from a dispenser than other mugs but not really a big deal. Ice cubes stay whole for hours and I will refill only the water over a long afternoon or evening.

I have not used it for travel yet but the simple screw on cap seals it perfectly watertight in my tests.

This is the best large mug I have ever used.

May 17, 2010 Added Info.... Recently I needed to contact HighWave customer service about my mug. To my pleasant surprise they responded to my email very quickly in a courteous, friendly and helpful manner. So often these days you just get a form letter type reply if any at all. I was very impressed.

I am going to buy another one of these for my wife.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Coffee mug, but not as big as claimed (its only 18 oz, not 22), January 20, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Highwave MoJOEmo (Kitchen)
If this mug had been 22 oz as claimed I would give it 5 stars. If you pull the top off then you can get 22 oz in it, but the top has a stopper in it and takes at least 4 oz of space. You can't use the mug w/o the stopper in it so the 22 oz size is a MISREPRESENTATION.

Highwave: If you going to fix the mug then make it a REAL *24* oz mug, Starbucks Vente size.
This means the capacity as you use now will have to be 28 oz.

The D-handle is nice but I am worried that it will break. There is an obvious stress point at the neck of the mug.
Highwave: I recommend using an adhesive under the handle or strap to attach the bottom to the base of the mug to keep the handle from breaking off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insulated travel coffee mug, July 17, 2010

I had been looking for a large capacity (20 to 24oz) coffee mug for some time. The selection at the brick and mortar stores is just lousy so I checked online and found the Highwave moJoemo mug. It had the wide bottom that I was looking for and a 22oz capacity. The reviews were good so I decided to buy it. I really like the looks of it and also the fact that it doesn't leak. What really blows me away is how long it keeps coffee hot. I don't know if it will keep coffee hot for the claimed six hours but I know its still so hot after three hours that you can't just gulp it down. I didn't know that was possible as no insulated coffee mug Ive ever used would come close to that. I mainly wanted a wide bottom mug that wouldn't tip over easily that was leak proof and would have been happy with that so the superior insulation quality is a plus. If you like a piping hot cup of java get one of these.

2.0 out of 5 stars Worked GREAT until the top broke., July 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Highwave MoJOEmo (Kitchen)
Loved this mug until the button on the top wouldn't work. Then the guts all fell out and rendered it useless. I have only had it 4 months and have treated it well.
I have written to the company to see if I can get a new top for it.
