THE COPY I RECEIVED WAS DEFECTIVE. THE SERIES, HOWEVER, IS UNQUESTIONABLY THE BEST COP DRAMA OF ALL TIME. THIS IS A COLLECTION THAT YOU WILL RETURN TO TIME AND TIME AGAIN. CRAWFORD, AS DAN MATTHEWS, IS SUPERB-- FAR BETTER THAN ANY CRIME FIGHTER IN THE HISTORY OF TELEVISION. HE IS SMART, CLEVER, HEROIC, AND SMOOTH WITHOUT SEEMING PRETENTIOUS. HE IS THE GENUINE ARTICLE. I HAVE ALWAYS MARVELED AT CRAWFORD'S ACTING ABILITY IN DELIVERING HIS LINES LIKE A TOMMY GUN. HE IS SIMPLY INCREDIBLE. JACK WEB WAS A CLOSE 2ND, BUT CRAWFORD WAS THE BEST I'VE EVER WITNESSED. HOW DID HE DO IT? YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH EVEN A SINGLE EPISODE OF THIS SERIOUS SAVE ANY TECHNICAL PROBLEMS. MY RECOMMENDATION IS TO BUY.

I watched this series as a kid in the 1950's and have been searching for it on Amazon for years. Why hasn't it been released on DVD yet. What is the problem? Are they waiting until all who remember it are dead?

I purchased the Highway Patrol TV series for a very good friend of mine. First of all the shipping was outrageous, almost $50.00 (this did not come from Amazon but a different dealer). The quality is so bad you can't watch it more thana few minutes. It skips, the quality is horrible. It cost around $100.00 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am outraged !!!!!!! And I did'nt just buy the one series, I also bought The Virginian and The FBI, COMPLETE series. They are all horrible. The total cost was $341.82. !!! Never again will I be taken to the cleaners.

I use to watch Highway Patrol with Broderick Crawford way back in the early 1960's as a small boy growing up in Chicago. Crawford played Chief Dan Matthews, a no non-sense Police Chief who always got the bad guy. The show was filmed on location throughout sections of southern California and dealt with a different crime story each week. In my opinion, this is by far the best Police Show of all time because it deals with everyday crimes. There was even one episode that dealt with bad driving and traffic tickets, something that most individuals had to deal with. If Highway Patrol does become available again, Buy it! If you have never seen a Police Show from the 1950's, this one will open your eyes to just how good television use to be. 2150.............out!

I remember watching the show when I was a small child.The theme music is what I really love.Broderick Crawford was the right choice for the role as Dan Matthews.Now I heard it is being remade with Tom Arnold mentioned to play Matthews.I say get John Goodman.When I watched him on Rosanne,I said he is the one to play the role.He even has the voice to play Dan Matthews.If it comes back as a series I hope they keep the original music and narration.
