Editorial Reviews

Special Agent Ross's (Randy Couture) plans to reconcile with his ex-fianc+ª are ruined when she boards a private jet that is targeted by hijackers working for the same crime lord he is chasing. With no time to inform his team, Ross wriggles his way aboard the aircraft and risks it all to save the love of his life. An adrenaline fueled action packed film that puts the fear back in flying!

The movie isn't on the high end of action adventure films but it isn't bad either. Mark Turner  |  7 reviewers made a similar statement

2.0 out of 5 stars No Subtitles? August 2, 2012
Format:Blu-ray
As others have posted, this is low-rate action film. I too just checked it out due to Randy. I thought he did okay in The Expendables (he did take out Steve Austin), and wanted to see him in a solo action film. To be honest this movie was just about what I expected. Not a great movie, but a low budget action flick. Randy did not do any worse than say Chuck Norris did in his first couple of films. But do not expect much more. I agree with another poster about some of the dumb things Randy's character did in the movie and at one point thought to myself: Who writes these things? Leaving weapons around and not keeping an eye on a stone killer. Rookies! My other gripe was this movie did not have subtitles. That should have been a sign that is a low budget flick. I like to have subtitles on so I can read what people are saying. With the A/C on it sometimes gets difficult to hear what the characters are talking about and if I leave the volume up, I pay the price when the action gets going. Still, this was a Netflix rental, so it was a learning experience for me.

As a straight-to-DVD action picture, my expectations were fairly grounded for the high-flying adventure "Hijacked." Meant as a vehicle for UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture, he channels his best Jason Statham and comes off as a serviceable action hero. If you are approaching "Hijacked" for him alone, this might be worth a look (but I'd still be hard pressed to recommend a buy). If, however, you are looking for non-stop action, suspense, and a plot that makes sense--there is less that I can say. This is an action picture that assembles the requisite cast of good guys and bad guys on a luxury airliner and allows a battle of wills to play out. Unfortunately, though, every major plot point revolves around seemingly random choices involving both the terrorists and the hostages. At one point, Couture takes out one of the three bad guys and leaves him unconscious and unsecured to rejoin the fight later on. Another time he leaves his gun sitting in front of an unsecured villain. From the bad guys, they don't make much sense either. Although their plot is to extort money--they instantly kill two of the richest passengers on the plane. But others, like a flight attendant, they allow to live and escape several times.

I'm not sure that the plot really matters with "Hijacked." It's really just a red herring that has little to do with how the movie unfolds. A spiffy introduction speaks about an international organization called The Tribe, but it's all so over-the-top as to not have much impact. Next we meet Couture in a cursory mission, a job gone bad. But before he has time to breathe, he joins his ex-fiancee on this luxury flight as she has just been hired by a wealthy (but suspicious) Vinnie Jones. I love Jones, I must admit, but he has little to do here. The movie spends lots of time with character introduction, but it really isn't of consequence as you wait for ANYTHING to begin the action. In a series of repetitive captures and escapes (seriously, cable ties are cut about 24 times in the movie to free hostages), "Hijacked" aspires to be a clever variation on "Die Hard" lacking any of that picture's excitement, humor, or smarts. But if it all isn't bad enough, the movie attempt to surprise with a twist that is cobbled together from several better movies.

I didn't hate "Hijacked," I just didn't find it very involving. Trust me, you've seen it all before and I guarantee you've seen it better! It gets off to a slow start and then most of the action just made me roll my eyes at the silliness of it all. If you were sitting at home and "Hijacked" came on TV for free, I'd say give it a look if you like this sort of thing. But I can't imagine wanting to own the film for repeat viewing. For Couture, he may not be bad but he needs to shop better scripts if he attempts to become the next action break-out star. KGHarris, 7/12.

The movie had a lot of action, but you could figure out the plot most of the time. I would watch it again.
