There is no person who has received as much scrutiny as Jesus Christ. Philosophers, historians, and various religious thinkers have posited many different ideas concerning as to who He was and what the significance of his teaching and life was. The problem with modern scholarship is there are certain historic principles that are universally utilized for validation of ancient works, however these normative tools are no longer applied to Jesus or the Bible-- a much higher standard is given to the Bible. The occurs because if one admits Homer wrote the Iliad, nothing changes, but if one admits that Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the Life, no man can come to the father but through Me." Everything changes. Modern scholarship has so restricted what can be known of Jesus that the image of Him has become marred. This book presents a coherent and consistent defense for one being justified in knowing that Jesus is the God of the Bible.

Modern-day scholars seem to offer up many conflicting views as to who Jesus actually was, what he said, and what he did during his ministry. As someone who wished to gain a deeper understanding of these competing assertions, and how historical evidence speaks to each of these claims, I could not wait to begin my venture into this book. Little to say I was not disappointed! Here we have a well-organized assimilation of viewpoints that contrasts the biblical account of Jesus, to the wide array of claims that aim to discredit the Jesus we read about in scripture. It is apparent, in reading this book, that the authors have done an extensive amount of research. Readers are supplied with an overwhelming amount of evidence to support the biblical account of Christ, and are also exposed to the many biases and presuppositions that compose recent attacks on the historical Jesus, and the scriptures through which his story is told.

With its rather large table of contents, this book covers a wide range of topics that are sure to engage many a reader, and provide them with a solid, sufficient defense of the true, biblical messiah.

To anyone who wishes to learn more about who Jesus truly was, and wants to evade the many alternative, false versions we are presented with in the current age, I highly recommend this book!
