This book is excellent. It's part of a series of books written by various authors. Read the reviews before buying. The Baltimore version has many errors. The Harrisburg version is excellent. We've heard the DC version is good too.

I bought this for my son who loves to hike and lives in Lancaster PA. He's really enjoying the book and has already tried several of the listed hikes. Highly recommended.

I purchased this book for my husband for Christmas and he is very excited about it. Since we are beginner hikers, I thought this book would be great for us to start locally. It begins with what you need for hiking, which is great for the novice. The descriptions of the area and maps are great! The only negativity is there didn't seem to be very many trails listed for Franklin County. But we are very excited that most of the trails are within a few hours drive from our home.

We can't wait until the weather permits us to start hiking!

My son and I go hiking using a system of one mile for each year old he has reached. We have used this book for our three and four mile hikes; it worked great. This book gives you all the information you need. It has gps coordinates if you use that. The table of contents breaks things down by different criteria. You can look up hikes by area, distance or other factors like 'good for kids' or 'hikes along streams', etc. Many of the hikes use a leg of the AT as part of your trail. What that does is give a great appreciation for having the AT in our area and all the great hikes that branch off of it. I have also found many great trails that are close but in areas I've never been before. This is the hiking book to get for the area.
