About the Author

David Lillard is executive director of the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship and former president of the American Hiking Society. A Delaware native, he grew up walking the stream corridors, railroad beds, and farm fields that were once common in northern Delaware. He is a trail volunteer with the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club and a member of several grassroots hiking groups.
