Hiking Montana covers the state from Glacier to the Beartooths. Each hike description includes trailhead directions, best season for the hike, and a map to guide you through some of the most magnificient scenery of Big Sky Country. Falcon published its first hiking guide in 1979, The Hiker's Guide to Montana. It was Bill Schneider's second book on his way to building Falcon Publishing. On the cover was a photo from the first backpacking trip with his 7-year-old son, Russ. Now that Russ is a little older and a professional backpacking guide, they have put together a special anniversary edition of what is now called Hiking Montana. This edition features only the best hikes from the earlier editions throughout the years and only the most updated information on each area. Bill and Russ rehiked most of the 100 best hikes, while checking trailheads and garnering agency input.
