Love, love, love this book! Very thorough with great directions and clear trail descriptions for hiking and backpacking options. Good maps as well. I purchased it in April and it's already filled with bookmarks and dog ears and carries that well-thumbed-through patina. :-) Alpine Lakes Wilderness is so fabulous and this will provide you hours of browsing and planning. One thing I hope the author will put in in his next revision is a summary chart at the beginning of the book to help categorize trips by scenery, solitude, difficulty, elevation gain etc. That would have been extremely helpful but I might not have had as much fun just browsing :-)

I own a lot of Falcon Guide books. They are excellent. I tear out the pages for the hike I'm about to go on, follow the directions, read about the history or flora or fauna during lunch, then put the pages back in the book when I get home.
