About the Author

John Pape is best know as the author of "Hill country Chronicles", popular weekly column appearing in newspapers in the Texas Hill Country. Pape is a native of Central Texas, and "Hill Country Chronicles" draws heavily on his personal experiences of growing up in rural Texas.

Pape has also written numerous feature magazine articles which have appeared in such publications as the Texas Observer, Gulf Coast Golfer, American Rose, the FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin, and many others.

An honors graduate of the University of Alabama, Pape was recognized as one of the Five Outstanding Young Texans of 1987, as well as one of the Outstanding Young Men of America that same year. He has also been honored as Man of the Year by the City of Mercedes, Texas.

When not writing, Pape is President and CEO of Pape and Associates, a company which provides professional and academic consulting services.
