HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON:
WHAT EVERY AMERICAN SHOULD KNOW (2000) by Christian Josi This small book was published by the American Conservative Union when Ms. Clinton made her first senate run. It basically collects all the scandals of her husband's presidency and her early legal career and focuses on whatever role she was supposed to have had in them. The well known controversies are all there: Whitewater, Travelgate and the death of her law partner Vince Foster. There is also a chapter devoted to the criticizing Hillary's proposed healthcare program (known as "Hillarycare"). But there are some less discussed scandals such as "Cattlegate", which involved Hillary's investment in cattle futures while her husband was a rising star in Arkansas politics. It is alleged that the man who managed her account (Jim Blair of Tyson Foods) arranged some kind of deal in order to provide a surefire way for Hillary to profit and raise money for her husband. A later chapter recounts the tale of Juanita Broaddrick, one of the parade of women that Bill is said to have lusted after. Broaddrick's case is much darker though - she claims that Bill Clinton raped her in the late 1970s. Broaddrick says that she met Hillary later on and that Ms. Clinton said: "I am so happy to meet you. I want you to know that we appreciate everything you do for Bill... ...EVERYTHING you do for Bill" (pg. 79, emphasis in original). Broaddrick is a controversial figure to say the least. This book is okay but it lacks a lot of other more important stories, such as the Chinese fundraising scandal or providing funding to KLA druglords during the intervention in Kosovo. Granted, these involve Bill Clinton more directly than Hillary, but conservatives tend to speak about them like a two headed monster anyway. I suspect that the reason that nothing about Mena, Arkansas is included because it also taints Clinton's predecessor in the White House. There is a lot to criticize about the Clintons, but people tend to focus on the same three or four issues.
