Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 6 Up-Emphasizing the many ways in which Hillary Rodham Clinton has redefined the role of First Lady, this title updates previous works by including events through July 1997. With an engaging narrative style marked by frequent quotations and occasional humor, the author paints a portrait of this talented, ambitious woman who maintained a high-profile career while raising a child. The author implies that her highly visible, unprecedented leadership role in developing and carrying out government policy and her involvement in White House controversy are even more notable. Kozar's objectivity is evident as he suggests that "the jury is still out" as to how future generations will judge her. Discreet mention is made of Gennifer Flowers's accusations about Bill Clinton and the ensuing 60 Minutes interview. Good-quality, black-and-white photographs primarily of Clinton's political life appear throughout the book; however, the full-color cover portrait is not an easily recognizable likeness. There are no footnotes or chapter notes. The index omits the first reference to Kenneth Starr that identifies him by full name and title. A well-rounded biography.
