This book brought back many memories of the stories my grandmother would often tell us children as we sat on the front porch eating watermelon. There were many of the medicinal rememdies that I was given and taught to use by several of my elders. The old ways are good ways and this book can be a source of remembering. It can also teach our next generation the importance of knowing the old ways. Americans have little heritage that we pass on,but I think this book has the potential of keeping our heritage alive. It should be a mandatory read for all college students not just English Literature students. I found it delightful, funny, sad, and caring. The author knows what she is writing about and it shows.

Howdy There ,this a Great Book
This Book contain all kinds of hillbilly literature, and Short little tales ,And The second part of the book includes a special story written by one of the original descendants of the Crowe Family, Ms. Verna Humphrey. The Appalachian wisdoms brought a smile to my face...."If you get a cold sore on your tongue, you have told a lie."

This book was a great way to to unwind and look at the oral folklore that has been handed down from previous generations. I love the innocence about this book and the traditions and customs, which are reflected in the stories with the Appalachian people. It is authentic and I would reccommend this book for any age level.
