I've always been a bluegrass and Chris Hillman fan but until recently wasn't aware that Hillman's roots were in bluegrass.Every lover of Bluegrass should give The Hillmen a listen. The harmonies of the Gosdin's are crisp and soulful. Chris Hillman's mandolin is featured and and it's not by coincidence but by design. Give the HILLMEN a try. In my opinion you will not be diappointed.

These early sounds of super talents Vern Gosdin and Chris Hillman are great. Gosdin provides the clear vocals and Hillman the mandolin instrumentals. This is their only CD together and is a wonderful find. Don Parmley and Rex Gosdin fill in the harmony. Parmley's banjo runs are also some of the best bluegrass you'll hear. I like all of the tracks, but 'Brown Mountain Light' is my favorite, probably because I've 'seen' them. I live in a neighboring county. I especially like 'Roll On Muddy River,' too. There are NO bad tracks on this CD.
