One for the songs and not the score!!, June 29, 2006
This review is from: Hills Have Eyes (Audio CD)
I usually am a movie score fanatic. It pisses me off when they release the songs but not the score. But this is one CD I would buy for the songs. Especially "More and More" by Webb Pierce, and "In the Valley of the Sun" by Buddy Stuart. Those seem like "back in the good ol' days" songs.

Echoes of Carpenter, March 20, 2006
This review is from: Hills Have Eyes (Audio CD)
This atmospheric score by TOMANDANDY works very well when it accompanies THE HILLS HAVE EYES on screen and really serves to build the emotional dynamics of terror, suspense and sorrow, however as a stand-alone listening experience it loses a little impact but that still isn't detrimental to it's enjoyment as a soundtrack with it's layered electronic samples and powerful bass lines combined with haunting classical guitar rifts one is reminded of the early years of composers like John Carpenter or Brad Fieldel. Stand-out tracks include Forbidden Zone, Beast finds Beauty, Daddy Daddy, Trailer, The Quest I AND II and the moving Sacrifice. It also includes various songs that appear in the film including the opening title song More and More by Webb Pierce as well as other Metal and Rockabilly songs. Overall I'd recommend it if you're a fan of the composers mentioned above but not if you favour scores of the orchestral nature.

Grim and Gross, March 14, 2006
This review is from: Hills Have Eyes (Audio CD)
Just saw the movie in the theater last night and I'm suprised I'm the first to review this thing. I don't own the cd yet, but I followed the score closely while watching it last night, and it was truly magnificent. It could stand on its own without the movie as a truly horrifying collection of songs inspired by nothing but BLOOD AND DEATH!

The Go's Motion Picture Debut, April 18, 2006
This review is from: Hills Have Eyes (Audio CD)
Loved hearing the ominous, chugga chugga beat of The Go's "Summer's Gonna Be My Girl" in this neo-cult-classic horror flick. Fit in perfectly. Then to also hear The Go's "Blue Eyed Woman" in the same movie --- fabulous.
Check out The Go's first 2 albums "Whatcha Doin'" and "The Go." They have an interesting history with Jack White from the White Stripes as their former lead guitarist (hear him on "Whatcha Doin').
Hope this means some new things are brewing for this fabulous Detroit-based indie-rock band . . .
